Hi!

It's SO funny (or not... ): everybody thinks that my husband and I are divorcing!!! Anytime I meet someone I know there's the exact same dialogue:

Person: "Hi! Aren't you at the States? What about your husband? How long are you staying in Portugal?"

Me: "No... He's in the States... I don't know, maybe 1 month, maybe 2, maybe 3..."

Person: "Ah..."

I see that look in everybody's face: "They are divorcing, I knew it! They're not even living together anymore! "

It's hilarious!!!!! Does it happen to you too?

GOOD LUCK!

My husband gets that all the time.

He hears comments that I left him and am never coming back! It makes me soooo mad! Doesn't help him either!

I think that is because I am the wife and he is the husband.

Never mind, how many couples I know (2 of my immediate in-laws) that the man will go to Dubai to work for a couple of years STRAIGHT - and the wife sits at home with his parents. But that is alright.

However, since I am a woman and I am in the US working, not to mention petitioning for him to come over, I left him!

I think that couples, who go through this process and face the difficulties brought upon by these delays, are more likely to stay married happily since they will come to appreciate the times together by remembering the times spent apart...at least in most cases.

We never got the whole "you're divorcing" schpill but most people didn't think my husband would get his visa or that we were lying about it since it's so hard to get tourist visas to the US. Even if we said that it was a sure thing because it was not a tourist visa but an Immigrant visa, they still didn't get it. And whenever they would see him they would say things like "well, it's been 2 months and he's still here, they're lying." Needless to say, they were pretty shocked when he e-mailed everybody to say good bye the day before we left Colombia.

 oh I got those-- "he is never coming" "I bet you guys have already divorced" "does he call you everyday" (grrrr we have internet to talk to, why waste money on calling for hours :P )

they have reduced recently, I think everyone has accepted that i already have divorced my husband because I just flatly refuse to talk about him or our relationship with others anymore, except few friends who really mean something in my life. :P gets kind of boring when you hear those same questions.

I totally agree with you CJ Vasani!!! We really appreciate small things like a text message from our husbands and wives or a short email love note...unlike old couples who have been living together for 5 or so years, they take for granted little things. We have been blessed because we know how hard it is to be separated from our loved ones and we just cherish every moment we're with them. (Ah the best times of my life are my husband's vacations here in MNL!!!) We rarely fight when he's here. We even fight more when we're away which is kinda weird!

Best regards,

Ynatots

I get the "how would you even find out if he's cheating on you" or "i bet he's seeing other women" a lot. It's hard to be so far away and people pull you down even more sometimes with their stupid comments. We're gonna make it and so will you guys! We are strong! And we probably love our SO more than the people who give their dumb comments.

Some dumb people around my place too often give me this nasty acknowledgment rebuttal whenever they're asking me, hey!, where's your husband? why you didn't join him going back?. As soon as I answer them, oh, probably next year. they would usually give me a facial expression that's thinking while nodding. aha! she was just left out by her husband and probably will never come back. I dont care whatever facial, verbal expression they throw to me, I don't owe them explanation why I'm still here in PI.

ohh.. I can't wait to just be gone and never see these people again.
