Copy of Fiance Petition Approval?

My husband and I got married back in September 2005.

We're filing for adjustment of status now. I know it's very late.

That's not really the point though.

Question is: It says, "Attach a copy of the fiance petition approval notice, a copy of your marriage certificate and your Form I-94."

I got the marriage certificate and I-94 part, but what are they talking about with the petition approval notice?

If my memory serves me correctly, they took my husband's passport and said that they would send the visa in the passport and that's that. We were then approved.

I'm thinking that it could possibly be the many letters that they sent telling me petition was in the process blah blah blah.

I do recall that the last letter said that it was now being sent over to the Korean Embassy for other stuff, which meant everything was cleared. I don't have that letter. But, my husband received a letter similar to the one I received.

This is what it said:

Dear ___

This office is pleased to inform you that it can begin to process your fiance visa case. Please read and follow all of the enclosed instructions very carefully.

I believe this was the time when we started the IV process and interview date.

Is this the document that they're asking for? And if it is, can we hand in my husband's and not mine. It wouldn't be a problem even though it's from out of the country right?

Please help....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Thank you in advance.

They want a copy of your NOA2, the form that says your initial petition was approved. If you dont have that handy, I *think* (some one will correct me if not) there is a form to request another one...but its going to cost you.

Any information I post is based upon my personal experience only. I am not a lawyer.

I can't find it anywhere.

Does anyone know the approximate cost of it, and where I can get a copy of this?

Why are they even asking for that?

Considering they spend months approving the petition, then take months for it to be handled overseas...

Do they really expect us to still have that handy?

And after all that marriage stuff and moving to a new place, it's miraculous to still have that small piece of paper available.

I've always kept copies of stuff I sent to them.

Never thought they would be asking me send them back something they sent to me.

Yeah, it makes no sense. The best I can figure is that it helps them keep your file all together, but really they should be able to get it together enough not to need it.

Look hard! The $200 price tag is a good motivator.

I'm seeing the $200 and going even more crazy because of that.

I think I may have handed the paper in along with all the other files during my husband's interview in Korea.

That would mean that they (USCIS) would have it.

Do I still have to pay $200 to buy something that they already have and send what I bought back to them?

I stated this in another thread about the same subject, but I believe a K-1 is required to submit the NOA2 with the AOS documents in order to prove that the original petitioner/beneficiary involved in the K-1 visa married each other, since that is the only way the K-1 can adjust status.
