hello everyone, maybe some of you can let me know the process of form I-485

ive been married 2 years to my husband we got married on sep 28 2006.

aug 27 my husband filed form I-130 because his citizenship process was taking forever to complete

USCIS sent notice I-797 notice of action on sept 1.

On october 18th, 2008 my husband finally became an american citizen.

Oct 20. I called to ugrade the I-130 petition and let them know my husband is now a citizen

Now i have everything ready to send form I-485 adjustment of status, for I-864 affidavit, i-765 application for employment

and the medical which ive already done and willl send with the package. This lady is going to help me go through all the forms to

ensure ive filled them out correctly. When i send all this what can i expect? any other fellow canadians have some info on what happens next or if im

missing anything. We're having a baby end of december so we'd like to finish this process as soon as possible,,,, thanks so much !!!!

A warm hello to all my fellow canadians!!!

Your expectation is the same regardless if you are Canadian, Aussie, German or Japanese

YMMV

Once you have sent the forms off, you'll receive NOA's (like reciepts) within 7-10 days (possibly up to a month). You'll then receive a biometrics appointment, the EAD/AP about a month after this and finally an interview appointment (I'm assuming you are a Canadian visitor?). I highly doubt that you will be done with this by the end of December, I had a pretty quick process but that was still 4 months. Everyone's timeline is different and depends on whether you get RFE's (requests for further evidence), how busy your local office is etc. Like payxibka said, it's the same regardless of nationality, there is no way to expedite it. Check out the forum guides for more info.

Well,

It looks like you have everything. Quick Question are you filing for the AP as well? It is included in the fee for I485/I765?

A warm hello to all my fellow canadians!!!

Hello cinthya85 from one canadian to another, well I filed my AOS package on monday through USPS via express mail

and it arrived in chicago yesterday signed and picked up, so now I am playing the waiting game and waiting for my

first NOA to come to confirm your package is now in process kinda thing. All I can say is the final step of compling

everything is very tedious and a whole bunch of running around, which gets crazy and when you are ready to file

make sure you double check everything, like evidence in the right place, signatures where they are required etc etc.

I am very much so in the baby stages of the AOS process LOL. All I can tell you is that you will be playing the waiting

game and the process is a long wait.

I personally dont have the experience from start to finsih but I am pretty sure many people on here will help.

Good luck on your journey and hope its smooth sailing for you.

US police report is not needed....

As a Canadian you enter with a 6 mos. presumed authorization even though you do not get a document indicating as such.

Advance Parole is I-131... If you have an overstay then do not use this as it will not guarantee re-entry.

YMMV

AP: is travel documents and yes if you have an overstay you cannot use it.

No police report is needed.

One other thing make copies of each package you send, ( I made 2 copies). USCIS is notorious for losing papers of all sorts.

All the best with you journey, and you may not need it but have patience. It can be a pretty trying process for some.

Oh thank god! I was gonna go tomorow to get that done. Definatlely not getting the AP 1-131, especially with the experiences ive heard others have had in entering the U.S again, im gonna wait to get my permanent status here. You know the first time i entered was january 2005 and stayed in miami until oct 2006, unfortunatley i lost my passport while in toronto and had to get a new one. Because of this when i came back to miami on nov 2006 the immigration official had no idea how long i stayed last time, and simply asked me how long i was going to stay and let me through without any problems, thank god. Oh i dont know if i told y'all im gonna have a baby end of december, and i was researching and found out i can get my baby canadian citizenship status because im a citizen, who knows maybe one day he may need it, its good to have just in case. Well everyone thanks a bunch once again take care! Later
