Where does everyone meet for visits...

I'm moving to Chicago to start a new job soon and my husband will be staying behind in London while we await our K3 approval. We're thinking of planning a few visits in Toronto to break up the time while we await his US visa. Any recommendations on other good cities to meet up in? I hear Montreal is awesome, too, but we see the airfare is a bit expensive...

If we do choose Toronto, can anyone recommend some good/inexpensive places to stay? Things to do/see? Restaurants?

Any other thoughts on planning visits to see each other??

Would love to hear your recommendations!

I have a friend that lives in Toronto, a great city with loads to do, Shopping is fun as there are lots on the metro system they have, infact Jon proposed to me in Toronto, Vancouver is a great place to visit also, Best western hotels are great places to stay at but im sure there are cheaper places to visit. Tim Hortons coffee houses are great, nice sticky donuts (yum yum)

We meet in Windsor, Canada. My husband takes a flight to Toronto and then the train to Windsor. I then drive to Windsor and we stay at a hotel there. They have hotels that range from cheap to 5 star since there are the casinos there. We stay at one that isnt the cheapest but close, however the rooms are pretty nice and they are clean. The important thing for us is simply being together.

My husband and I met in 2x in Vancouver, 2x in Toronto and in Montreal. He also came to Germany several times.. We did not care where - we just wanted to be together but also looked for a reasonable aifare. If you meet in Toronto, try to go to Niagra falls.. it is awsome there, especially in the summer. We both liked Vancouver and Montreal the most (actually we moved to Montreal because we could not stand to be apart anylonger). If the airfaire to Montreal is to expensive, you and your husband might fly to Toronto and then drive to Montreal (4-5 hour drive).. it depends how long you want to meet for..

In Toronto we stayed at Delta hotel and in Montreal in Marriott which I can recommend. Can't remember the hotel in Vancouver but it was right by the water.

Check out www.tripadvisor.com for hotel recommendations.

Good luck and hopefully your visa journey will end soon.

I went to the Philippines twice. Other than that it was all Yahoo Messenger and the telephone! I should have bought stock in SBC

We stayed at a Stay INN just outside of Toronto. It's very close to a large mall with tons of shopping and restaurants (just across the Gardiner Xpressway and at about CAD 100.00 / night with full breakfast included, it was a pretty good deal. We liked it. It's clean and quiet, not too far away from town (10 miles at the most) and not very expensive.

I know this isn't for everyone, but while he was working in Libya last year we didn't have many options. (USCs cant travel Libya easily, he can't travel Canada or hardly anywhere easily) we met up in Cairo for 10 days - it was pretty cool and suprisingly inexpensive. (It would have cost more to vacation in the Wisconsin Dells)

Its Cabin country just North of Toronto and you can get a Cabin pretty cheaply (kitchen, living room and heating!) for a week..romantic too! Especially if you travel during non-peak times.

I love Spain, of course Madrid as I see that is where you met each other but the country has many beautiful places. I'm partial to Gijon and of course there's Santander, and all of the South and in the East, Valencia and Mallorca... I could go on and on.

All done for the next 10 years...

Now more then ever..."and Miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep"
