Do documents ever get lost?

Peace,

This is a question that developed as a result of reading other threads that have been posted about NVC or USCIS loosing documents.

Here is a quote from the last such post:

Well, I always make sure, I put the correct adress, t I know they get the documents because they send me a letter saying they recieved, but there LWAYS mising one, for example in one package they requested a birth certhifice and a marriage certificathe, I am 100%sure I sent both, but they say they only recieved one of then, or they come to contact me telling to send something that they already have, this is frustraring, this long wait, we will have the second anniversary soon from the petition was made.

^Agravating^

I made a video recording of myself placing all my documents in the envelope and sealing it when I sent my I-130. I wasn't instructed to do this but thought it seemed like a good idea. I may repeat this when I send documents to the NVC.

I thought this might might be helpful if the receiver of this material clams I've come up short; when in fact I haven't.

But if such a problem arises and Im unable to speak to somebody in person it might be all for naught, unless a lawyer gets involved and thinks he/ she can use this somehow.

Any thoughts?

8/07 Met on myspace.

5/7/08 Married in Indonesia.

6/4/08 Sent I-130

6/11/08 I-130 received by Vermont service Center.

6/11/10 Received NOA from Vermont.

12/17/08 Touched and placed on hold. (Request For Evidence)

1/12/09 mailed requested evidence 2 Vermont

1/28/09 I-130 APPROVED!

2/9/09 AOS bill received and payed on line the same day.

Never received I-864 package (they don't mail them out anymore I had to take it all from NVC website)

2/20/09 completed and mailed DS-3032

((Some time lapsed because of wrong addresses and documents lost in the mail)) ARRRHG! :-(

3/13/09 Return completed I-864.

3/21/09 Received IV Bill.

3/22/09 Paid IV Bill $400.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
USCIS is unnecessary and a complete freaking waste of everybody's time. What did they do other than waste 7 months of our time and take money?-- because I now have to resubmit the exact same damn information(plus some) to NVC. Apparently there is no connection between USCIS and NVC so USCIS cant simply send our documents to NVC. I was happy to get approved by USCIS but now the process starts all over again only with more complications. Maybe someday I can meet these people in person and thank them face to face for f**ing up almost everything so far. Addresses incorrectly copied, email address repeatedly typed in wrong, names misspelled, ECT, ECT, ECT.
Hows about mandatory drug testing for all who are employed at NVC? All in favor?
Honestly, I don't think it would be beneficial to get a lawyer to do the talking. Best way really is to resend the requested documents. Include the attachments in their communication together withn the requested documents. And use a reliable courier such as DHL/FEDEX/UPS so that you can track delivery. Don't scrimp on expenses with regard to sending documents to them. Remember, you are planning for your future here.
Missing documents do happen. In fact, the US Embassy (Manila) has instructions for applicants to bring copies of documents during the interview just in case the NVC had lost some of your documents.
Hope this helps. :)
I agree with the above poster. I guarantee you that even if they DID claim they don't have something, the issue would be cleared up far more quickly by just resending it than it would by disputing it. A lawyer wouldn't really help at all, because the fact is that whether you forgot to include or they simply misplaced it, they won't continue processing your case until they have it in front of them, and a lawyer certainly won't be able to make it magically appear.
Any thoughts?
You need to relax a little. So far from our entire group that was approved in August, I haven't heard of anyone having a document lost by NVC.
Sure it could happen, but that's why we suggest making 2 IDENTICAL duplicate packages.
Not only do you have a backup, but you have a point of reference.
Good luck, and stop video taping yourself doing stuff :)
