Hi!

We just received an I-797E Notice of Action in the mail. They are requeting more evidence. I don't know what else to send. We already sent pretty much everything we had on the list of what they are requesting and additional things, like notarized affidavits, photos, etc... The only 2 things I can think of is more recent bills that I can send them. We didn't have current Insurance bills, as their billing cycles are from year to year. We just received that. And also CC statements and copies of cards. We blacked out most of the numbers, but you can see that they all link up. Maybe we should show more numbers?? Can anyone help as to what we need to send? I tried calling USCIS office, they said they can not tell me what to send.

Thank you!!

Try making an infopass appointment and see what they say when you get there. There's only so much proof one can send. I used letters from friends, credit card stmts, insurance stmts, anything and everything that had my wife and I on it. I would recommend going to see them first and then see what they want. This way you don't waste time looking for docs that might yield you any benefit. Good Luck

Wow that was fast! I think and I could be wrong but you may have rec'd the RFE because you didn't file joint taxes. They like to see that financial tie.

Hope you have a speedy approval.

Next time file joint tax returns [for the N-400]. We are "playing a game" and have to do what makes USCIS happy until we get USC.

You may even consider filing an amended joint tax . No biggy if your taxes aren't complicated.

Buy a life insurance policy if you don't have one.

Just an idea as it's difficult to tell what they want.

It's ridiculous how ####### they are! :(

We can't file joint returns before of their requested time, which is December. What's an amended joint tax? My husband works a lot of overtime and has extra income, expenses n' such. Wouldn't that make it complicated?

Life insurance? We may be too young for that.

I don't know what other financial ties we can show. And wouldn't it cause a red flag if we were to just get things NOW?

Ugh! What a pain!

It is called a 1040X... You have three years from the date of filing to amend any previous years tax returns.... Dependant on your situation... Married Joint can result in a lower overal tax liability... You may have in fact left money on the table... (standard caveats apply)

YMMV

 OOPS! Sorry I forgot the young don't die!!

You can do an amended tax return today. You would change from filing separate to jointly.

While joint tax returns are best, I think it's up to individuals if they want to file separately or together so even sending copies of your past W2's along with copies of past tax transcripts all showing the same address should be okay I think. You could mention that you filed taxes separately in your cover letter but you both plan to file joint returns for 2008 before April (regardless of if you plan to or not).

Then send in anything else you have with both your names on them or items that have the same address as your spouse such as copies of drivers licenses etc.

As for life insurance, you're never too young or old for that!
