I am canadian and my wife is american we have been married and living in canada for 4 years. We are thinking of applying for an immigrant visa relatively soon.

I was looking at the timeline statistics and some of the posting for Montreal. It seems that the average time (as of today) between NOA2 and interview is ~8months. I didn't find data for the average time to get I-130 approval through Montreal. Since we would be doing a DCF filing a presume that it would be faster than USCIS? Anybody with recent experience?

Are there any other processing times to watch for besides these 2 (I-130 approval and Montreal processing)?

Thanks everyone

Steve

Our I-130 was approved through Calgary in about 3 weeks. The wait for an interview in MTL was another story: about 8 months if I remember correctly.

The only other time you need tothink about is the time it takes you to gather all the documentation needed. Perhaps you want to have everything ready before filing the I-130 so you can respond asap? Also make sure to include proof of your wife's legal status in Canada -- I forgot to add my work permit and got an RFE :protest:

Good luck!
