Hello all i need your info, advice, suggestions pls. My question is this I got married on Aug 28,2005 and today i got an interview letter for an appt. next month for my AOS of which i didn't receive Biometrics for my AOS and EAD. I have ssn under my maiden name of which i also have in my passport since i dnt have a greencard yet but i'm worried bout my passport under my maiden name so should i do something about it like change it into my married name? Precently i have my marriage certificate under my married name. I have no plans yet to travel outside the country and my passport will expire on 2010. Can somebody enlighten me on this? Do i have to go changed into married name before going for my interview? Thanks guys!

You don't have to. :) I applied for AOS and everything else in my maiden name, but that's primarily because I decided not to take my hsusband's last name after we got married. I'm going to our interview with all my documents (incl. passport) in my maiden name. :)

Hi i applied using my married name because that's what its suppose to be when you get married you will have to use your husbands name and my surname as my middle name .This is what we do in the philippines .

I applied using my new hyphenated name, maiden name-husbands name. I asked a CBP officer if it I should change my passport and he told me not to worry about it. I think with using both your names (in your case your maiden name as a second name) you will at least have a cross reference to prove you are that same person.

I think this would be an advantage rather than dropping your maiden name all together.

You don't need to change your passport for the interview. Just make sure you carry your marriage cert with you when you travel (if your greencard or AP is in your married name)

My wife's AOS was filed in her married name - her SSN is in her unmarried name. Our interview is next week and she will just take her passport (unmarried name) and a marriege certificate for ID.

I tried getting a state ID in her married name but Colorado doesn't issue one unless you have an EAD or greencard!

Don't worry and Good luck
