Hey Guys,

My fiance had his medical appointment on Thursday and has to wait 10 days to pick up the results, we'll be able to send our packet off to the embassy after that and hopefully get an interview date shortly after that!! We are going to book a reception hall on Thursday, a really great theater near my town. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

We're set for 10 years!!

Interview today.....APPROVED !!!! :dance::dance::dance:

What a relief. She said everything went completely smooth; no problems at all with the documents (make sure you have them EXACTLY as your respective Consulate requires).

Next step....see her in Rio in 16 days!!! Im in Aberdeen Scotland at the moment on a 12 day business trip through here then Norway then Holland. Hated that I couldnt be there for this big day, but all is well. Planned entry to Houston is August 9th, one day before we close on our new house (on my Birthday no less...lol).

Our thoughts continue for all those still in the process. This site has been a HUGE help and much of our success is due to the information and support found on VJ.

If anyone needs assistance which I / we can offer, please dont hestitate to send a PM.

We put in a service request cause we honestly have no idea how our case status is doing and we can not look it up online or call them for the status ( due to the error some folks have... sadly we are one of them.) Well, and as you can see we are pretty late and we have no known errors! I got a letter from VSC stating that our case is currently under review and I should have a decision/action within 60 days of them sending that letter. Hmmm... well good to know they didn't lose our case somehow!

I am so depressed. Dora was rejected at her Hong Kong embassy interview. They said we needed more proof of relationship. That was OK, but then afterwards when we submitted all the extra docs they asked us to send, then again sent a letter that said they are not sure of our "timeline". HK embassy has now said we need to send over all immigration records from the Macau immigration offices to show when she went in and out of Macau, Dora is from Macau.

They worst part is the girl from the embassy told Dora, "after you send in the immigration records we have no idea how long it will be until you can get a new interview date, and then we are not sure you will pass that interview, you have to wait and see."

We are both so upset and low now, it has been almost 8 months now, and it seems that things are getting worse not better. I just can not take the endless "one more doc" "one more letter" round and round, it is so depressing.

We are now thinking Dora might try to come visit me in the USA again, while we wait on the HK embassy to review the latest set of papers Dora will send tomorrow, they said this process may take 6 more months!!!!!

I feel so hopeless and sad, I do not know what to do to get this visa through.

Should I call a senator, or call the embassy? Anything I can do? Help.

Jeremy

I'm so sorry Jeremy. At this point you are in the hands of the consulate. All you can do is comply with what they are asking you for. I am sure (like when dealing with all of these govt agencies) that the time line they have given you is probably one that has been plucked from the air.

I would address the Hong Kong forum and look for others who may be / have been in a similar situation to gain a more accurate reflection of how long this is likely to take for you.

I think if Dora tries to visit you, she will be turned away. A denial will probably raise red flags and I am sure at this point in the process they are able to see information on your case when you get to POE.

I am so sorry :( I think you need to give them a reasonable amount of time (I know.....what is reasonable when you are parted from the one you love:() before you can start asking for intervention from a higher power.

I am so sorry! I would give it a bit of time and if you see no movement, I recommend getting your Senator involved.

Thanks for you posts Ellie and Davie and Jen and Nick.

I just called the Department of State, the operator told me "as of July 7th your file was marked as in Administrative Processing". This is bad news, really makes my stomach hurt to say it. I guess this means we are in for a really really long wait, with no updates.

We had decided to just have Dora come over here and wait out the 6 months on her VWP Portuguese passport (some Chinese residents of Macau have Portuguese passports due to Macau's previous colony status. But if that could raise a red flag, or delay the AP should she come here? I search all over VJ and every other post seems to disagree about VWP visits causing problems with the K1 process, or possible rejection at immigration POE when she tries to visit.

I did find the form to fax to my senator to deal with other government agencies, I am worried about trying to explain the entire process and issues to the senator's office via a small fax page. It seems like bringing in the Senator's office could complicate the entire process.

Dora's sister in Macau is an attorney and has immigration attorney contacts in Hong Kong. We are going to have her ask some questions to them to see if there is anything we could do now to help.

If the consulate had not got our hopes up so high when they took her passport and had her pay for shipping once the visa was issued we would not have got so excited, we were so expecting to be together by this week. So changing gears back to the mode of "it may be 6 more months" is just hard to swallow, we will just have to get adjusted and get used to being alone again, with not hope for quick resolution.
