Alright folks, here is an update. I got a call back from the senator's office. They said that they spoke directly with the person who was handling my case at the VSC and that the person she spoke with said they were approving our case. I want to be optimistic, but the VSC told the person from the senator's office that it would take a couple of weeks for me to receive my NOA2 now, should it really take that long? I live in the same state as the service center, one would think it should only take a couple of days for me to get the letter, unless it is generated elsewhere (does anyone know?). There has also been no update to the status on the USCIS website (which I know may never change). So, I am optimistic, and hope that the letter will come soon. Let's see! I'll continue to keep you all posted!

Congratulations!!

Hi Everyone,

After being told by the VSC that it could take a couple of weeks to get my NOA2 in the mail, and being skeptical because it is the USCIS that we are dealing with, guess what arrived in the mail yesterday! So, looks like step 1.5 is complete. Yippee!! It was a pretty great day, I was also able to get through to my baby on the phone yesterday to give him the good news. It's been about a week since we've been able to get through to each other, so that was a huge relief! Hopefully we can get a jump on some of the paperwork that we need and hopefully things will move quickly now. My brother has asked my fiance to be in his wedding in September and he would love to do it. We are keeping our fingers crossed that he will be able to be here by then.

Thanks for the encouragement that you've all been giving, it's been a huge help and comfort knowing that I am not the only one going through all of this, there is a whole community behind me.

Congratulations!

I am still waiting for approval. I got a RFE on April 10th and sent the information they requested next day air. That delayed my case by up to 60 days. Duh! If I don't hear anything by June 14th I can call and request a status update.

Did they actually say "60 days"? I thought the average RFE delay was 30. Sorry you have to wait.

Woohoooo!! best of luck there Ellie!!! That's fantastic news...

I sent off the packet 3 April 30 and should be receiving an interview date soon..

Just a question - Does anyone know if i can extend the validity date of the k1 to enter the US? I've already bought the tickets for the 31st Oct however, I was just wondering if there was a chance of extending that 6 month period to enter the US?

Congratulations!!! We are only within a couple of days of one another! That is fabulous.

With regard to extending the K1 - I cant find anything that provides a definitive list of how to / in what circumstances so I am pretty sure you would have to be talking about some very unusual circumstances for them to agree to extend.

If you were approved in June and the visa given to you then, that would give you enough time anyway wouldn't it?

@ Jenn and Nick.

Thank you for the well wishes. I am so sorry they haven't got your petition approved for you yet, but i'm hopeful as you hit the 6th month mark, you can kick up enough of a stink to get something done. As always, I have everything crossed for you, and although i'm not a religious person, I can promise I'm mojo-ing for you in the absence of prayer :)

For those of you still assembling your documents for package 3, pay attention to the wording on the instructions. We just got back our English translations today, and I noticed the birth certificate didn't include both of her parents' names, birthdates and places of birth, as the instructions require. I didn't pay that much attention to the wording, and when we got the original in Chinese, I couldn't read it anyway to see what it said. Apparently birth certificates in China are much different from those in the US. So now we have to go get another one (and pay for it), and then get it translated again (quite expensive). :(

CONGRATULATIONS on getting your interview dates Ellie and Popo's Lady. Everything is so easier when you can count down to a certain date :) Wish you the best of luck.

We got our marriage license and we are getting married on Friday. :) His family will be attending and I am really excited about it. Other than that its pretty boring to be a housewife :) Don't know how people do it all the time. Can't wait to start working something. (I will probably regret my words later :)
