hey everyone. i thought i'd say hi. its so nice to meet others in the same boat as me. my fiance and i filed in early november. so now i'm just preparing myself for the long long wait until the second NOA. but enough of the depressing stuff...i agree with an earlier poster...we need to keep it positive!

anyway i see there are some australians here. my fiance(british), and i (american of course) met in sydney. it will always have a special place in our hearts and remains our favorite city in the world!! i'm hoping we can honeymoon there - fingers crossed.

so has anyone else started wedding planning? i figure we're all doing a civil ceremony first? but i'm tentatively planning a spring 2010 church wedding, etc. what's everyone else doing?

Welcome. You'll have to wait until your fiance/husband has advance parole or his green card before he can leave the US, but if you're planning the honeymoon after the later church wedding, it should be ok.

My fiancee and I want to get married in a hot air balloon, weather permitting.

We will just do the civil wedding, neither of us is religious. But afterward we'll probably have a big reception, Russian style, which means lots of dancing and drinking. :) I was told this Russian proverb about drinking at Russian weddings, where it is considered acceptable and even honorable to drink until you pass out : "The amateur passes out into his salad. The professional passes out into his dessert." :)

Hello and Welcome!!

Wow, you and you're fiance met in Australia? Yes, It is a beautiful place!!

We've started our wedding plans. We're going to do a civil cermony first when I get there next year (assuming all goes well with the K1 haha) but we've also been busy planning our "proper" wedding which will be in April, 2010. We'll be putting down the deposit next week and it will be held at a beautiful reception hall in Long Island, NY overlooking the water. We'll be having approx 100 close family and friends. Our ceremony will be held outside the reception all overlooking the water. Of course, weather permitting otherwise, they also have a beautiful chapel at the venue. Our other option was to have our ceremony a church nearby and arriving by yacht (complimentary from venue) to the venue where our guests will greet us. But I really want an outdoor ceremony...so its a tough choice :lol:

We are taking a different route than some of the other couples on here. No civil ceremoney just straight to the wedding. We have tentative dates and we have deposits on things of which they all understand that a date change may be possible and accept our position of not knowing till later (once the process hits sydney we might be able to have a clearer picture on a date). The ceremony it self isnt going to be be over the top as my fiancee and I are both simple people. We have a deposit on a bed and breakfast place with a courtyard for the wedding. A down the road there is the reception hall. Now just hope and pray that the visa is issued within 6 months

Sounds nice...fiance andI just wanted to do a destination wedding in the carribean but we both have so many family and friends and one side said they were gonna throw us a big party and the others are saying they were going to do the same so we figured we'll just throw one big party for everyone and we'll have a nice cocktail party later that year in Sydney!

Ive seen a few aussies on here that live in QLD and Perth but you live so close! it wouldnt surprise me if I've seen you around..

I just got my fiancee's K-1 petition in the mail today, so I'm anticipating being among the first of the November '08 filers.

It feels good to have finally gotten the ball rolling, but now comes the long wait. :(

me too, my Fiance grandparents got our NOA1 last November 15 2008,,

they filed at VERMONT, hopefully my Fiance will ask for expedite process because he is in military and going to deploy,,

Good luck to us and I hope everything will be ok and the process will not take too long,, coz all of us wants to be with our sweethearts!!

mwah!!!!

Everyone has NOA2-itis. :)

I'm trying not to be too excited about it, because the NOA2 is only about the halfway point for me. I'll probably be one of the last November filers to get the visa.
