Hello, everyone~

I hope you all are doing very well during the waiting. For some reason, I have a really good feeling that many of us will SOON be hearing from VSC for the second time-the NOA2!!! That is why I am getting an early start in preparing the package 3 and 4. I just submitted a request to FBI for the police record, which will take up to 6 weeks. Other documents, e.g. birth certificate, the original and the translated one, my fiance putting together his part, like his w-2 records for the past 3 years, other financial statements, letter of employment. He works for the Board of Education so it can take him forever to get what he asks for from the "system." Anyway, I am just wondering: is anyone else doing the same thing, or it's just me?

By the way, I went to the hospital where I was born this afternoon and applied for a copy of my birth certificate. I was told anything before 1980 was no longer tracable (I was born in 1976), which means they do not have any information regarding my birth and thus will not be able to issue the certificate. What should I do? ....

Only the USC has to add the birth certificate right?

I was thinking about starting already too with getting stuff together because it looks like vermont is going faster!

Also about the police record i thought that if the embassy wanted it they request it themselves by the police? maybe im wrong...thought we didnt have to care about the police record as long as they didnt ask for it.

I am not 100% (only 95%) sure, but from what I have been reading, the police record is one of the items on the list for package 4. Although they MAY or may NOT ask you for it during the interview, I know I cannot be too prepared if I have it. And since I have studied and worked in the States for 7 years, I will need a clearence from FBI and that takes a while. That's why.

As for the birth certificate, I think that is also one of the things required for any foreign fiance. Somebody, please correct me if I am misinformed.

Yup. You must have a birth cert and you are responsible for applying for your police certificate. Some country's take longer to issue the police cert than others so it is worth looking into it now

And since I have studied and worked in the States for 7 years, I will need a clearence from FBI and that takes a while.

I studied in the US for four years..... will I need to get FBI clearance and a police check from the US? I thought it was only from countries OTHER than the US that you had lived in for over 6 months that you needed police checks from.... am I wrong??

Sorry, cant help you there. Mine is very straight forward as i have only ever lived in one place.

Might be worth looking around to see if there is guidance anywhere or starting your own thread to see if you can get any help from members more experienced in those areas.

Becky....

You could look into getting them now, but some country's put a 6 month limit on them. You'd need to find out the specifics of applying in pakistan. I know in England our certs are good for 12 months for the purposes of a visa, but like i said....check your own embassy out to see what the rules are.
