Thank you all for the good words. Finally I can proudly anounce that I have the visa in hand :dance::dance::dance::dance: Going to see my sweetheart in just 3 days. Can't wait. I am so happy right now and I am out of speach :)

bapacker Congratulations on your visa :thumbs::thumbs: It is such a relief. I got the sealed envelope too but its a bit strange because its cut on one side and a whole bunch of documents are showing up. I am not worried because that seems to be the point :)))) I would keep the rest of the documents they gave back to you just in case

Ellie I think that you will probably get away without the HPV shot. The whole thing just seems ridiculous. Yeah I wouldn't do a wedding in England too. They are sooo expensive. My sis wedding is in London and when she told me how much are the costs i stopped complaining about mine. No wonder weddings are a billion dollar industry

To all of the November family. Stay strong and positive. keep the good faith and the good fortune will follow.

PS I am a bit superstitious btw. In my country there is this saying that you shouldn't cut your hair before major event. I haven't cut mine quite a while and it seemed to work. (it doesn sound weird saying it) Can't say i am not dying to go to the salon now. ;)))))))

Alright folks, we've hit the 6 month mark.

When I call USCIS, the message says the same as the web page for my case, pending. We've had no touches at all. What to do now?

I've got a co-worker whose brother is a local representative in our state government and they are very willing to help me get into contact with the state senators. Does anyone know what kind of information they will need in addition to our case number? I keep wishing, hoping, praying and checking the web for updates. It's hard not to get discouraged seeing the number of people who are getting approvals and who are already at the interview stage while some of us are still waiting for our NOA2. We can't wait to join that group.

Thanks in advance for any advice, words of wisdom and help that you can give us.

We're set for 10 years!!

hey everyone...time to catch up on all the posts..

@ Ellie – That’s too funny about your friend being forgetful like that!! I thought I was bad!! LOL…I see you’ve finally received and sent off your packet 3 – I sent mine off on the same day – finally! Well as for the tax stuff with Dave, I hope you all get that sorted ASAP, I know at times like this when its very important, a lot of people just seem to have a lack of urgency!

@ bapacker – Wow, that was a quick interview! Looks like you’ll be moving to NY as well..same here!

@ vol4life – let us know when you get your interview date – all the best!

@ just_friend – thanks! I finally sent off packet 3 the same day Ellie had sent it off..at least now that’s out of the way and just waiting for the interview date, I can focus on preparing everything for the baby and our move on Oct 31. Time is just flying for me and If I had a choice, I’d prefer to move sometime November but its too late with the k1 visa..oh well..

And…CONGRATS on receiving your visa!!!!! Im so glad you received it in time..now go on and get outta here and start packing for your flight…be safe and all the best!!!!

Sorry to hear that you guys have still been waiting after 6 months! Even though that is the average time frame from filing to receiving the NOA2, I hope you guys should receive some good news soon. As for what I remember when calling the USCIS (when we originally filed early last year) they advised that if we hadn't received the NOA2 after 6 months, then to call them back and they will expedite our case. When we had spoken to the state senator to help us, we gave them our case number and the date we sent off the petition - i think that was all. I know its hard to be patient especially seeing so many others been approved and already at the interview stage the same time of filing yours, but you also have to remind yourself that there are still several of filers before you that are still waiting..its safe to say that you're not alone in this whole thing...keep us posted with everything and hope that you get your NOA2 soon!!

Thanks! I'll call Monday and see what they can tell me. The thing that keeps us upbeat and hopeful is knowing that once this process is through, we'll be together. Reminding myself of that puts a smile on my face, it's all worth it. We had just hoped that it would be sooner rather than later, but we'll take it whenever it comes! We'll keep you all posted.

I checked the USCIS website and on their USCIS Processing Time Goals page, it says that the current average is 6.1 months. Maybe we'll still hear something soon (.1 more months). It also says there is a back log of 4,798 for the k-1, in the scheme of things, that is not a lot of cases if you think about the total number of cases for all of the visa types. We stay hopeful!

Kevin&Leilei whats going on with you guys? We've lost you in the last couple of weeks.

Hey guys, I just got back to China from several weeks in Phuket, Thailand, having a sort of pre-marriage honeymoon. Also a trip abroad together makes for some really good bonafide relationship evidence. We got back to her home to discover packet three had been delivered already, a good two months earlier than I was expecting it. Now I get to help her fill out the form, and collect her police certificate, single certificate, etc.

Sorry I haven't kept up to date on the race, but I've been busy. :)

Welcome back, and I am jealous! I love Phuket, taught English there back in 2004 and the students were so much fun to teach with such great attitudes. Thailand is such a beautiful country.

We submitted our Packet 3 checklist back to the Hong Kong Consulate, to show we are ready to be interviewed, 2 weeks ago. We still have not got the letter back with the interview day though. Down to the last step and the waiting is getting harder now. Praying for a mid-May interview and a late May trip to the USA. Come on HK, hurry hurry! I might email them one more time, but I do not want to make them think I am crazy with all my emails asking for status updates.

Just thought I'd share a bit of info...

My fiancee had her interview in Warsaw on Monday at 0830.

She texted me at 0937 that she had gotten the visa in her passport

The only questions she was asked were whether she had family in the U.S. and whether she REALLY wants to marry me (the latter might have been a half-joke on the part of the woman-consular-officer  ).

The lady took all the paperwork and apparently was only interested in I-134 with supporting documents (I had to notarize it, but did not include tax returns).

Did not look at pictures, phone-bills, etc...

My fiancee had a visitor visa which was valid until 2011 removed and replaced with the K-1.

All-in-all, the worst thing about this whole process was the wait for NOA2 and packet 3. After that it all keeps on rolling on its own (given you've got the paperwork filled out).

I'm planning to fly out there in September, fly back to the U.S. with her and 'assist' her at the point of entry (Newark). Don't want any over-zealous USCIS agents bothering my wife-to-be

Anyway, HUGE thanks to everyone here for all the pointers and updates.

This website and forums are an incredible help with the whole K-1 process.

Best of luck to all, especially those still waiting!

Pete
