Yes, the RI way though.
:huh::unsure:

Some form of prostitution is already legal in two states. Brothels are allowed in rural counties in Nevada. And Rhode Island permits the sale of sex behind closed doors between consulting adults, but it prohibits street prostitution and brothels.
Interesting. I agree with you on that. Keep them off the streets...or at least certain streets.
Wouldn't the concept of "Red-light district" as used in Amsterdam accomplish that?

Prostitution is illegal in the city of Houston, but it is semi-open and not very well hidden. The chances of a working girl getting arrested is pretty slim to none in Houston. From the cantinas, craigslist, and several want ad type newspapers advertizing escorts / massages it's not hard to find. Street walkers get the brunt of law enforcement activity because people don't want that type of stuff going on in their neighborhood. Who would want strangers having sex in a car on their street? Not me! It brings in the riff raff and other crime.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Good. And this would certainly aid in bringing sex workers out of the shadows, and diminish the abuse they suffer in the hands of pimps and joes.

With so many in favor of decriminalization why don't they just legalize it, control it and tax the 'heck' out of it :devil:

Will taxes be charged?

It works in Germany and Holland....why not here? I'm not in favor of prostitution, but if it will help protect the women, and if women were required to have testing for AIDS and other STDs, I say why not? It would keep prostitution somewhat contained, perhaps? And I see no harm in charging tax. It worked in Koln, Germany.

Speaking of prostitution, I noticed that the I-485, N-400 and other immigration forms

have questions about it right next to drug trafficking, illegal gambling, war crimes,

genocide and terrorism.

Is prostitution a big deal when it comes to immigration - adjusting status or applying for

citizenship?

Meaning what? You cannot adjust, ever? Need a waiver?

I actually know someone who married a Russian prostitute (who had been arrested

and charged with prostitution once) - is it going to be impossible for her to wipe the

slate clean?

It's actually called out specifically, separate from the section that refers to crimes involving moral turpitude. (It might qualify as a CIMT, too).

An alien is excludable under INA §212(a)(2)(D) if he or she:

  1. is coming to the United States solely, principally, or incidentally to engage in prostitution, or has engaged in prostitution within 10 years of the date of the application for a visa, entry or adjustment of status;

  2. directly or indirectly procures or attempts to procure, or (within 10 years of the date of application for a visa, entry, or adjustment of status) procured or attempted to procure or to import, prostitutes or persons for the purpose of prostitution, or receives or (within such 10 year period) received, in whole or in part, the proceeds of prostitution; or

  3. is coming to the United States to engage in any other unlawful commercialized vice, whether or not related to prostitution.

I'm not sure offhand if a waiver is available, but yeah, it's taken seriously. Note also that for immigration purposes, it doesn't matter whether prostitution was legal under the laws of the place where the prostitution took place.

That's hilarious! Pimps and whores are the only jobs that are protected from foreigners by law? An example of jobs that are exclusively reserved for Americans. Ha! Jobs Americans will do. ;)
