This is probably a stupid question, but just wanted to make sure.

I am going to buy my fiance a plane ticket from the Delta Airline website using my credit card. She will be leaving from SVO and arriving at JFK. This will be fine, wont it?? The only thing I have to do is just make sure that her name matches the name in her passport exactly, right? It must be in english too, right? Is the website going to ask for her passport number?

Once my fiance gets to the airport, will she only need to show her passport with the visa in it, and they they will be able to look her up from that, or does she also need to print out the itinerary?

Thanks for your help. Any comments would be appreciated

Yes, of course this is fine. Yes, you should enter her name as it appears (in English) in her international passport and visa. No, the Delta site won't ask for her passport number. She should print and take a copy of her e-ticket. At the very least, she should know her flight reservation number.

I always order my tickets from expedia and they ask for the passport number when you fly internationally, so you might need it. Also, at Pulkovo they want to see the ticket/e-confirmation before you go to the ticketing area--I've never been to SVO, but for Pulkovo it's required. In the US they only need your passport and they look it up on the computer and don't even need a confirmation number.

Pulkovo is one of the crappiest airports around :)

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

It's like buying a plane ticket for anyone else.

She just needs a plane ticket with her name on it, as indicated by her passport.

You will need her passport number at some point. The airline will want it, at check in if they don't already have it.

At the airport, she just needs ticket, passport, and visa. They don't care about the itinerary.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

In her passport, her middle name is not translated into English, only her first and last name are. Should I only use her first and last name on the ticket? This stuff is probably so petty that it wont even matter, but just paranoid...

It is because it is not a middle name per se but her patronymic name.

YMMV

The Delta website only asks for the first and last name of the passenger. There is no field for a middle name or initial. Why don't you take a look at the website?

That's correct. There is no requirement to have a middle name on a plane ticket.

Don't be so paranoid - otherwise, the immigration process will eat you alive (:

You want a crappy airline, Transaero requires the credit card holder to be on the plane! Cannot purchase for another unless you are with them! At least if you try to buy off there website.

http://www.transaero.ru/

These rules do not apply if you buy from their offices outside of Russia. At least as of 2007.
