Leaving for MTL tomorrow!!

I have some time to spare between my train home and the interview....are there any malls close to the train station, consulate area?

And dumb question....but what did you bring your papers in...if you can't have bags, purses, etc. Do you just carry your big old expresspost envelope with an xray hanging out? Snowstorm is coming, and I am a little worried.

There are many shopping places around the Consulate. However, I'll let somebody more knowledgeable of the area guide you.

I brought my documents in an accordeon folder.

When I was there - I asked for a late check out at the hotel - and they allowed me to keep my room until 3pm. Also great shopping on Rue St. Catherine. Sooooooooooo good. Only a couple blocks up from the consulate.

I took only my file folder and left everything back at the room.

Good luck! You'll be so relieved at this time tomorrow.

PS: Don't forget the express-post envelope. :P

Bought a plastic 13 file accordian folder(legal size)!! Comes in handy even after the interview as you can keep all ur immigration documents in 1 place, so ur good to go when times comes to file the 751 and naturalization papers (if u go that route)

Ya shopping was close by. few blocks up! When u come out of the consulate turn right and go up,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
