Does anyone know what happens if there is a denial at the AOS interview? Does anyone have experience with this? Is there usually an appeal or the Stokes interview? We are worried that we will flat out be denied with no appeal.

Also, does anyone know of any good immigration attorneys in the Seattle, Tacoma, or Olympia in Washington State?

You can appeal depending on what the denial is for.

Most times they'll give you a chance at a second interview if they're just not convinced (as opposed to a denial cuz you lied about something).

My husband may have seemed like lying (even though he was not trying to lie), when the officer asked him when he proposed to me. He said he proposed here at a park. And then she asked, "you mean you didn't ask her to marry you when she came to meet you in your country?" Actually he proposed twice, but I don't know if she got that. Also, when we had only the month of October to show that he was added to my bank account and me to his account, she at first thought it was showing for a whole year, but then she saw it was only just the day before the interview. She might have thought that my husband was not making that clear. I sure hope that is not taken as lying, because he was not trying to lie.

I am so worried and upset.

Well what I've learned from all this is that IOs are people that have a job to do like all of us. They can be mean or cool, but at the end of the day they don't personally have any gain besides filling quotas and a paycheck so don't take it personally whatever you get. At the end of the day it's just a job. From your interview I wouldn't worry. It's easy to get confused and have someone trip up what you meant. Especially when they're listening for faults rather than content.

If you look at the interviews other people had, they don't just listen to what you say they take your interaction and behaviour into count as well. So you might have truly messed up on something but pass because it's clear you're a real couple. Also, a lot of time they'll frustrate you to distract since it's harder to lie when agitated. Relax, the worst part is over until you get a decision and no bad news is always good news.
