I am so nervous. I will go to the HR at Disneyland soon. I have to dress up professionally because they are more likely to give me an interview there. I am pretty excited. I do not mind what I do, but I am thinking about applying for Disney desk or guest research.

How was your job interview experience? I do not speak English as my first language, so I might mess up some questions.

Don't be. I know that's easy to say, but employers can easily see if you're nervous. In fact, the more nervous you are, the more likely you will stumble over your words or say something you shouldn't. Employers like to see confident -- but not arrogant -- applicants. It shows that you're confident in your abilities.

As far as your English is concerned, I'd try some practice interviews with your SO. That way, you'll get feedback and learn to correct yourself. I'd also print out more than one resume. Even if they don't ask for it ahead of time, it's always good to be prepared (they like that) and sometimes you'll be interviewed by more than one individual.

Another thing you may want to try is catering your resume to the job you're applying for. In other words, make a resume template and when describing yourself and your skills, keep the job you're attempting to get in mind. This doesn't mean lie, but you can embellish it some.

My interview went better than I expected! My mother in law (who is a manager in the same industry) coached me for it which helped immensely. The interview was a lot shorter than I expected it to be (I was in and out within 20mins) but she (the hiring manager) got through the questions she needed to ask me, showed me around the office & introduced me to some of the team. A few days later, after they had checked my references, I got a call from HR offering me the job!

My advice is to do your research (on the company, on the job/s you are applying for), either have someone coach you, or practice some interview questions on your own - especially with broad questions which they will almost always ask (Why should I hire you? Why do you want this job? What are your strengths/weaknesses, etc). Also, dress appropriately, don't be late, relax & try not to appear too nervous, be polite to everyone you meet, show interest through your body language, and take your time answering the questions and don't be afraid to ask for clarification if you don't understand it at first.

Good point (not that I think that kittycat would be rude). At one job I had, an applicant was rude to the person she talked to at the front counter. Her rudeness was noted, and I don't believe her resume even got looked at.

When working at a tourist spot, being able to speak another language is an asset. Kittycat, I'd focus less on English not being your native language and more on the fact that you can speak Japanese with Japanese visitors.

This is a great idea. Emphasize the skills/experience you have that are particularly suitable for the individual position, so the interviewer can easily see exactly why you are well suited for it. Also, do a little research about the company you are applying at, so you know at least basic facts about them to show you are seriously interested in them and know what you are talking about. I am now temporarily working in a Japanese restaurant with nobody (staff) can speak Japanese... Probably the reason they hired me.... I'm trying to learn Spanish now Am I in the US?
