Dam wireless keyboard to blame.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I agree. Not just ensuring equal access to jobs, but making sure the jobs are there to begin with.

Which can only happen if we give businesses the incentive to do so. America's corporate tax rate is relatively high when compared to other nations. I would lower it with the condition that they pay a fair wage and keep jobs in America. Any business whose majority of employees are overseas should be taxed more, to offset this.

That may work. Perhaps not as a tax rate decrease but as an incentivized credit so that those that leave, effectively pay the higher rate. This helps simplify the system. Flat rate, plus or minus credit. With a differential rate you could have an unequal separation of operations from production with the companies redefining themselves in order to fit into the tax rate they want to fit into. Sure... with the credit you could get that too... which is why in either case you'd need sufficient oversight.

It all boils down to how you want to see it: as an incentive versus a penalty.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

It's a shame that nobody, ever, takes into account that the first bracket, after EIC and receiving $2700 per child "credit" for taxes never paid in the first place, etc, actually pay NEGATIVE taxes. In these tables it appears that the "taxes paid" do not include and are not corrected by EIC offsets. Most families who make $50,000 or less pay NO taxes.

There is a big difference between 50K and 6K. Please explain how someone who makes 50K a year does not pay any taxes because when I get my pay cheque every second week, 1/3 is taxes.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

with respect, i fall into the higher half of the 1st bracket, and i pay what seems to me, a crapload of taxes. i don't complain much b/c i live in NYC, and have to pay city taxes, etc...

but i certainly don't pay negative taxes, that's for sure! i know that there are people who work the system and get a lot back in credits, etc... but i'm sure as heck not one of them... :(

$100 a month extra would mean they only pay $100 in tax a year.

Whereas I pay close to $57K in tax and get jack ####. Actually my tax will go up..

Rather than lowering taxes they need to raise the minimum wage. As well as lower taxes for businesses and try to provide an incentive for companies keeping jobs in America.

BY, i agree with you whole-heartedly on said points...

wish the candidates were talking more about the specifics on these !

Not to mention that many SMART people making under $50K chose to not have kids they couldn't afford and aren't eligible for the EIC......

Smart, educated, "successful", hard-working, determined people,

who haven't maxed out their credit cards,

who haven't lived beyond their means,

who haven't spent carelessly...

I feel we are all created equal, should be treated equal and taxed equal. Anything else is discriminatory and unethical!

15% Federal Flat Tax

6-7% State Flat Tax

That's it no more

People should be considered equal.

Economic bigotry is still bigotry, and is as harmful as any other form of bigotry.

Are you nuts?

We certainly make less than that. Much less. We have one child to declare as dependant. We aren't eligible for EIC. And I assure you we paid taxes.
