Hi fellow VJ,

My BF from US is coming this december and we both know that he is going to propose. We both know that he needs to file the petition as soon as he went back to US, by now we are looking and see what are the documents we both need to prepare so that it would give us time to prepare.

I have few questions i would like to ask. I am so sorry but i need to ask this

1. can we answer the forms hand written? or if not how did u do it thru computer, what program did u use?

2. is it true that i should print all the forms through a LASER PRINTER, bec my friend told me to use laser bec if i will not the US embassy will not read the bar code part?

Thank you so much and im looking forward for your response

1. Yes you can answer the forms using your handwriting but it's more advisable to type it using a computer. As long as you have a PDF reader (i.e. Adobe Acrobat Reader, Foxit PDF Reader) you can type in your answers. Use a PDF printer such as Cute PDF Writer so that you can print to PDF the form so that you can have a filled up form on file.

2. Downloadable forms usually do not include the barcodes. Normally you use the original forms mailed to you. And often it's only for signatures. It's best to photcopy or scan these docs prior to sending them back.

BTW. The docs that have barcodes are mostly cover letters requiring signatures. Those that are downloable are the forms you usually fill up. But you have to attach the signed document with barcode prior to sending them back.

An example which I did.

There is a cover letter for my DS-230. It has a barcode and also indicated my case number. The DS-230 though mailed can also be downloaded. There is no barcode in this form but I had to include the letter with the barcode when I sent my DS-230 to the NVC.

Yes, you can hand write them if you wish.

There are several on the USCIS website where you are able to fill them out online and then print out.

Yes, use a laser printer.

Good luck to you.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I don't have a laser printer and I printed every single form and coversheet with my printer. Never had a problem with the USCIS reading a form or scanning a coversheet.

Just download Adobe Reader 9 from the Adobe website and you can

fill in the downloaded forms from USCIS on your computer.

I just sent my forms in printed on my inkjet, doesn't seem to be a problem.

Congratulations (in advance)

John

Hmmmmm .... you can handwrite it, but I guess it is advisable to do it in the computer so that USCIS could easily read it, then it is more neat. I guess, ink jet is just fine as long as it prints nice and clean. Here in VJ, you can find form for K1. Maybe you could follow this link, http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1forms

Good Luck!
