waiting for the petition to be approved

:help: Hi everyone,

My fiancé and I (I'm the foreign one and he's the US citizen) have sent out the I129F and all the documents. I've been advised to start looking at a list of papers I'll need to have gathered by the time the petition got approved and the foreign embassy contacts me.

My question concerns the police clearance certificates. I have been living for 10 months in the US as an exchange student and I want to know if any of your foreign fiancé(e) who already got the visa application packet sent by the embassy got information about the police certificates.

My homecountry only makes nation-wide certificates so I can't get one for each cities I lived in but I'm assuming that will be ok (since it's a national record). I stumbled accross a website when I was looking for information where it said that if the visa benificiary lived in a foreign country for less than 12 months, they don't need to get a police certificate from this country... but I can't find this information anymore and I'm not even sure it was applicable to K1 visa.

Can anyone help me out?

Also I'd really like to get some informations and testimonies about how long each step of your application process took? My US fiancé has filed with Texas USCIS... how long does it take? Tell me about your case...

Thanks in advance for your help,

Timeline

Hey There!! Alright first things first it halps if you have a timeline and keep it updated! It helps everyone to know exactly where you stand in the process and easier to give advise. My fiance is from Germany and he only neede to get one certificate from the town that he is registered in because they only do national police certificates as well. Since you haven't gotten approved yet you still have quite sometime to get this. I would probably start looking into now though. After you get aproved the embassy is going to send you all this information about the police certificates so they will tell you exactly what you need. Also, You don't need to get any police reports from the USA. They do backround checks of their own. If you have ever lived in another country besides France or the US for longer than 6months you need to also get a police report from them.

As far as seeing how long everyone has waited in their processes you can just look under their timelines on their profile or go to the top of the page to Immigration Timelines and look there!! Good luck to ya and if you need anymore help just let me know!!
