I am not really sure but I read before in some blog that it would be better if you are going to send original proofs because it will shorten the time of the process if there's no RFE. Sometimes, the USCIS is sending RFE just asking for the original copy. But be sure to have 2 or more photocopies of all the documents.

Proof of ongoing relationship, if you can have phone call logs, text messages, chat logs, cards for occasion, post cards and receipts of delivery (Stuffed toys or flowers). Just in case, you are using Motorola cellphone, it has a good log for calls and text messages.

USCIS will RFE for an original when an original is required... As a practical standpoint, almost all evidence is NOT required to be original anymore.
