I wan wondering , A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence - what is it look like. Is it a simple receipt or a letter showing joint tenancy...?

Thanks in advance!!!!

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

Our lease agreement was a pink colored paperwork about 5 to 6 pages that we signed at the leasing office after we got married.

This is NOT needed for I-485 when adjusting status, it will be needed when removing conditions on a CR-Green-Card.

You posted this to the AOS forum which involves ONLY the I-485.

Are you adjusting status from a K-Visa??? :time:http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=55641

If you are adjusting from another visa type you may want to post this to the sub-forum: "Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas" http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showforum=130

Note I-130 has several different options for bona-fide marriage, like letters from friends/relatives (Affidavits)

I agree.

They have posted many, many questions in the past week on both this and the sub forum. That's how I knew. ;)

but to answer the question, didnt you sign the lease with your landlord before moving? i doubt it was a verbal agreement, there is not standart format, it should have been a contract that you landlord had put together with all the lease terms etc.....

I was concerned about this, because here in NYC, very rarely the landlord will let us do a JOINT lease... if one person makes enough money to cover the lease, then that person's name is on the lease. SO, my hubby and I don't even have a joint lease together...

it doesnt make any sense (regardless of which state you are in), you are a married couple and both names should be appearing on the lease, its not like its dictated by the law but the landlord should be able to include your both names in the lease agreement. i think you should just explain to ur landlord the situation and see if he can include both names...for instance, i have just helped one of my clients put together a lease agreement which includes the following in the opening paragraph: This agreement is entered into, effective as of [date], between [name of Landlord], of [city state zip], referred to as "prospective lessor," and, [names of tenants] of [city state zip], referred to as "prospective lessee." and both tenants names should be included....

I know it makes no sense. It also makes no sense that most likely you won't be able to find an apartment without a broker... I already discussed this with my landlord, and he said only one person's name is on the lease, b/c the mgmt company doesn't want to run two credit checks. Thanks for your advice anyway.

Without a broker in NYC, that is.
