i got sick first week of last month and have had cough and colds. i'm well now except for a little cough... would you advise me to go for medical already next week? i'm afraid i might fail if they see traces of phlegm in me... what do you think guys? i'm scheduled for interview on nov 21. please i need your advise...

yes, proceed to your medical test next week. Nothing to worry about. :) They are more concern of your Chest Xray result (TB positive), HIV, and other infectious diseases (mostly STD's).

thanks for the reply jamesNrei... i'm getting really worried about it... my husband and mother kept telling me to go see a doctor but i kept postponing... and now i'm faced with worries brought about by my own negligence...

i really do hope they won't suspect me to have TB... goodness!

I'm going to my medical next week too... also my interview is on Nov 21!!!! wow, hope to see you there... :)

on topic: Next week will be fine, I think... should not worry... just drink a lot of fruit juice and water...

Do not go to your medical if you still have cough. Please make sure that cough is gone. One little thing that they see in your Xray, they will make you do sputum exam. It will be a delay of two months. So load up on Vitamin C and drink lots of water. Take care!

If you can, go to your doctor so at least he/she can listen to your breath sounds. Thats what I did to my son cuz he has a history of pneumonia. And I postponed our medical because he had colds and cough that time. His doctor advised us to give it two weeks and make sure that cough is gone. Then he listened to his breath sounds a day before we went to our medical.

it's better to be cautious than be sorry.go to your medical when you feel that you're already free from cough and colds.you wont know what's going to happen at st luke's.i'm speaking from my own experience.when i had my medical,i just had a cough and colds,when they got my xray result,they told me i needed to undergo a 3 day sputum tests,i was surprised since i never had tb before and always had an annual PE.it'll take 2 mos to get the results since they said that the bacteria grows very slow.

2 months of waiting seems so long but i'm glad that when i called SLEC last friday i was advised that i can go there any time i'm available for my vaccines :)

i also agree with RIA, we need to know that if we have phlegm our xray wont be that clear, even for us its just a ordinary cough that most of us expreinced already, yet, they will still want to make sure of it and will probably let do have the sputum test. well just keep drinking whats best ok. JUiCES and some vitamins too. maybe next next week will be a good time. but if u do feel your ok now, then u can go. good luck.

At least 1 week gap. You still got 3 weeks to get fully recovered...don't take chances that might hurt you in the end.

I know one(not from VJ), she went for medical with mild cough/colds she was ordered to undergo sputum test.
