At the interview they give white paper that ask for evidence of sustained income. Has anyone else here got that? What do you give them when they ask for that?

The new guidelines indicate that only the latest tax return is required. If you only submitted the 2007 return, I wouldn't be surprised if proof of sustained income (such as the three year statement previously required) is asked.

They may want a letter from the employer with a few payroll check stubs???

The problem is they do not say what they want. But I am self employed so I don't have check stubs.

Not sure with self employed. I think in those cases the bank documents are important. I know that there are different things needed for the self employed.

Sent 4 months bank statements as that is all I saved. Seems they did not accept that as I called a few days ago and was told they sent a letter on October 21 and was returning her passport.

So don't know what to do next. :(

My husband is also self-employed (he have his own business and is also Army Reservist)... during our interview, he brought with him his 3 years tax returns, including the latest tax returns, bank statements and for his self-employed business: his accountant prepared for him the "Stament of Profit and Loss"... The CO just browsed on these documents and said: "So you have your own business"... and that's it and he said we pass the interview.

My husband is self-employed. I provided them with copies of the last three year federal tax returns and an affidavit of support. That seemed to satisfy them. The Affidavit of Support also shows other assets like he owns his own house.

Usually, long term employment/business, proper filing of taxes is a good indicator and won't raise any questions. If that is lacking, what they want is proof that your job/income is steady and will continue to be in the future. Getting a regular job may be easier.
