Does anyone know if Egypt is one of the countries where vaccinations are completed as a part of the K1 Visa Process? My husband didn't have any as a part of his medical examination (maybe he was current???) or maybe Egypt is one of the countries where they let you have them AFTER you arrive???

I don't want to make him have all of them here if he doesn't need them, but don't want to file for AOS without sending the Vaccination record if they need another one (which we don't have a copy of so he'd have to have them over again...) because we don't want an RFE.

Here's what it says in the AOS Forum... but I don't know if Egypt is one of the countries where they require them or not....

If the beneficiary's vaccinations were COMPLETED as part of the visa process, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO INCLUDE FORM I-693 IN THE AOS SUBMISSION. All your medical information is enclosed in the brown envelope which was handed in at the POE. The envelope is then forwarded on to USCIS where it will be consolidated with the I-485 submission, once received. If you received a copy of the Vaccination Documentation Worksheet (Form DS-3025) from your Panel Physician, you may include a copy of that form in your AOS submission in place of Form I-693.

Thanks for any info...

K

P.S. If he has to have the vaccinations again can he get them at the local health clinic or does he have to go to a "Civil Surgeon"?

The doctor in Alexandria told my husband that K visa's do not have a vaccination requirement. You will, however, have to have them for the AOS when your SO gets to the US.

You can have the vaccinations done at your private doctor's office, or your local county health clinic for much less. Just take the immunization records with you to the Civil Surgeon's appointment.

Also, your private doctor can do a blood test to determine immunity if your SO has had some of the required immunizations. You may want to compare the cost of the blood work to the cost of the immunizations that would need to be done. We are in the same boat...

Thanks for the information! I guess we'll have to do it here... How do I get a list to take to the Health Dept. of the vaccinations that are required? I wish we had done it there! Would have saved a bundle of $$$. Have you thought of doing that since your husband is still in Egypt? I guess I should call one of the "civil surgeons" and find out how much they charge to do the immunization form if they don't give the vaccines... seems ridiculous to need another doctor to verify something done at the Health Dept!

I bet the lab work is as much as the vaccine... Too bad he can't remember if he ever had Measles, Mumps, or Chicken Pox... Anyone know what those diseases are called in arabic?

My husband is from Alex and we also live in the Pacific Northwest! Small world.....

Thanks again,

K

Here is the info we found about immunizations:

Antibody Titer: This is a blood test that can be ordered by your doctor to determine if you have immunity to an infectious disease. Antibody titer tests are available for many of the diseases that regulations require you to be immunized against. In instances where you have no immunization records you do have an option of providing the Panel Physician with written copies of antibody titer test results showing immunity in order to avoid receiving a vaccination. Antibody titer blood tests may be covered by provincial medicare. In some jurisdictions antibody titer tests results may take a week or two to obtain. We suggest that you visit with your doctor as soon as you receive instructions from U.S. Immigration in order to discuss your immunization requirments.

Here is the general list of vaccinations, get it done by your family physician, if possible, before going to Consulate approved physician to cut the cost. If you have an official record of having these vaccinations and they are current, you generally will not have to have them done again. You will need to present the vaccination record to the panel physician. Please check with the panel physician if you are unsure as to whether or not your vaccination record will be accepted.

Acellular pertussis

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis B

Human papillomavirus (HPV)

Influenza

Influenza type b (Hib)

I sent you a pm...don't go running and get all of these done. Also, one more thing to remember...if you do get an RFE and they tell you that he has to have a physical....when he sees a civil surgeon for the actual physical portion.....remind him that your husband may have had the antibody shot for TB....if he was given this he will more than likely get a reaction to it and they will order a chest x ray...this may save you some money on the tb mantoux...apply for AOS first and wait for the RFE if he is even given one and then worry about the vaccinations. The civil surgeon checks off what he needs on a sheet and gave us a prescription for it. My husband went to the local hospital and had them done and they billed our insurance...still haven't heard if they paid or not but it's a better chance than paying out right for it. Hubster is 38 and only needed the varicella vaccination (chickenpox) it was over 100.00 at the county health department for it....so take your time and wait for an RFE...maybe you will not get one..some do and some don't.

Thanks for the tips! I read on the USCIS website that if you get an RFE for ANY aspect of the AOS process (like the medical part) it will bring all of the case to a screeching halt until the info for the RFE is rec'd. He is so anxious to get the EAD that I don't know if I can risk ANYTHING that might cause an RFE, although at his age (47) he might only need a DPT booster and the Chicken Pox one...

We have No insurance, so it will all be out of pocket... and his pocket is getting stretched and stretched by not being able to work and needing to send $$ home regardless of that fact...

He had the full medical exam, chest x-rays, etc. in Egypt (only a few months ago) how could they make him do that again?? Unless they lost the papers, which I hear is common.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I should have had him get the shots before we got married the county does them on a sliding fee scale and as a single person without a job it would have been dirt cheap, now that we're married I suppose my income will foul that up... (and of course he insists on paying for EVERYTHING!!!)

Guess we could go ahead and file and then start working on the medical stuff and have it ready by time we get any RFE, IF we get one...

Thanks again,

K

Just to clarify...

She asked if she needed vaccinations to get SO here on K visa, the answer is no.

She asked for a complete list of vaccinations required, supplied it.

You will need to have the complete list if you opt for a lab test to verify immunizations have been done in the past, so they know which ones they need to test for.

Not suggesting for a moment you run out and get all these done....but the info will be needed if the dreaded RFE does arrive...

Again, just clarifying :D

Thanks for providing more info... however the CDC's list (referred to at the USCIS website) for a 47 year old man is pretty short... Just MMP and Chicken Pox... if he hasn't had the diseases, and he has had Chicken Pox (and has the scars) and the MMP is recommended so not sure if they will force him to have it or not. The list you posted is every possible vaccination needed, not the ones required for adult males. If he was over 50 I don't think any of them would be required.

I'm going to call a local civil surgeon to verify the required vaccines for a 47 year old male... etc. find out how much they cost and how quickly we can get this done and then decide whether to mail the packet without it or wait.

Thanks again for sharing the information! :D
