Hello to all of my Canadian friends!!

I have one last question before I mail off my AOS!!

When I went for my interview in Montreal, they kept Eric's 2005-2007 tax transcripts. So, Eric called IRS and got his Tax Return Transcripts for the last three years. When mailing my AOS and I-864 (affidavit of support), would it be alright if I just send his Tax Return Transcripts from the IRS or will I also need his W-2's and other stuff? I'm asking this because, the guy that does Eric's taxes and has his stuff, is gone on vacation and won't be back for another month.. or two!! Has anyone just mailed the Tax Return Transcripts and got approved with no RFE???

Thanks for any help that you can give!!

Oh and the good news... Eric and I got a puppy last night!!! She is an all white pitbull and her name is Skye!!

Her first bath...

Anyways, just wanted to share that with everyone.. I'm really excited :D

Hope that everyone has a great weekend.. and Laura & Nick, I hope that you get your RFE figured out quickly!! (Hopefully it is a big mistake!!)

OMG!

Adorable.

My friend has had hers since she was a pup too.

Now she is about 12 and still...just wow...what a personality.

And she has the memory of an elephant!

I've never been much of a dog person, and these dogs are truly special.

Congrats on all the good stuff happening for you.

You have to wait til she's had her rabies shot, and she can't have that until she's at least 3 months old, so I think you'll have to wait a while yet. In the meantime, you can easily teach her some basics, like sit, and practice walking with a leash in the yard, or even in the house. Puppies hate leashes, so the earlier you start, the better.

Easiest way to teach a puppy "sit" is get her attention while she's standing in front of you, have a treat in your hand, and slowly move it over her head out of her reach. Her natural body reaction will be to put the bum down on the floor, so her head can follow the treat. Voila! She's sitting! Do that a few times, then alternate between using a treat, and just using a finger pointed up in the air (the obedience doggy sign for sit). Soon she'll be sitting for you with just a hand signal, no treat. Occasional reinforcements/reminders with treats can't hurt though. ;)

Get little little treats so she doesn't fill up on junk. Training treats are the doggy equivalent of potato chips or candies for people. Its just junk food, and should not be a major part of a growing puppy's diet. PetSmart has lots of yummy options. George's favourite has always been Pupperoni, and a wee one that I can't remember the brand name, but I think its a PetSmart exclusive, comes in a small jar with a green label, I think they're liver flavoured bits.

Any time you need her attention and she's not looking at you, stomp on the floor.

Thank you for the help!!! We will try that one tonight!! I just took Skye to get her first vaccination and they did a little "clap test" to confirm if she is deaf or not and she is. It's hard to tell.. because sometimes when we talk to her (while she is looking the other way) she will turn around.. kindda looking like where did that noise come from? Oh well.. we still love her no matter what. :D

MissStacey... I have tonssss of pictures. Eric and I are like proud parents.. taking pictures of everything and anything that she does! LOL!! I'll post a few more for ya!

SpiritAlight... It makes me happy to hear people say good things about pitbulls. My family is soooo against us having a pitbull because they are no longer allowed in Ottawa. This past Sunday, my little cousin was attacked by a small dog and was badly hurt!! I personally believe that it is all on how you raise a dog.

Here are a few more pics of our baby! lol

how old is she, she looks really really small.

Pitbulls are banned right across Ontario, not just Ottawa. Stupid law really, its not the dogs' fault that their stupid people didn't train them or socialize them properly. And statistically speaking, pitbulls don't even bite people that often, its just that when they do, they're so tenatious that they just don't let go, and their jaws are so powerful they do more damage.

Even stupider, is that "pitbull" isn't even a specific bread really, there are a bunch of breeds that can, and are, called "pit bulls". The nickname comes from fighting dogs in a pit.

I love pitties and bully breeds. All of 'em. When bred, socialized and trained properly, they can be more loyal and lovable than a lab. But not more than a Saint Bernard of course ;)

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

That puppy is adorable!!

I think you bring up some interesting stuff Reba, it isn't the dogs, it's the owners. As you mention, they do generally seems to be tenatious and not let go and they are generally more powerful - that's where the bad rap comes from and as we all know, some people just were not meant to have pets!

It is definitely the owners! All the rottweilers and pitbulls I have come into contact with have been the sweetest dogs!! It is not the dog's fault.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

You guys are awesome.. I wish my parents could read everything that you guys are saying. But sadly, I think that even if they did, they would still think that pitbulls are bad news.

No, we didn't end up getting her a costume... trust me, I reallyyyyy wanted to!! But we didn't know how big she would be by today and well, we just don't have time to go get one now.

She will be 7 weeks this Tuesday. Ohhh man, she lovesss shoes, socks and feet!! People aren't kidding when they say it's like having a baby. lol

I didn't know that pitbulls aren't a specific breed. Good to know!! :D

so she was taken from her litter at 6 weeks? that's waaaaaaaaaaay too young! 8 weeks should be the minimum.

you're going to have some behavioral problems with this one. If puppies are taken too young from their litter, they don't know how to socialize and play properly, plus even at 6 weeks they're not properly weened; more like just going cold turkey.

I seriously think there should be a law about how long to leave puppies with their dam. I think Illinois is the only state that has an 8 week law. Plus, they have a law against tail docking and ear cropping. It should be federal.

I agree 100%!!!

But they wanted to sell the puppies asap!! I wanted her to stay with the mom and other puppies for a little longer but if we didn't take her then... then she would have been sold or who knows.

Hey again guys!!

I have another question.. that has to do with my first question :D

Looking at my information, I've realized that at the interview, they only kept Eric's 2007 tax transcript. Good news is.. I now have Eric's W-2's and 1099 for 2005 and 2006 but they have Eric's W-2's and 1099 for 2007. I'm gonna go ahead and mail off what I have but what will I do when they send an RFE for that??? Are we able to get a copy of Eric's W-2 from IRS??

Thanks guys!!

Hi Southern,

I'm a bit confused, I understand that you have his transcript from the IRS for 2007? I don't know about AOS but for IR1 they accept the transcripts alone, no need to send in the actual return, so unless it's a really really different requirement - you should be fine with what you have

My dear! Shame on those breeders. They should have told you to even put a deposit down and then in a few more weeks you could pick her up. To sell a puppy before at least 2 months is cruel. I often think that is why my dog is so attached to my husband and I. We didn't baby her but she always wants to be by us and have a part of her body touching ours. We often wonder is she was taken too early.
