Hello to all of my Canadian friends!!

I have one last question before I mail off my AOS!!

When I went for my interview in Montreal, they kept Eric's 2005-2007 tax transcripts. So, Eric called IRS and got his Tax Return Transcripts for the last three years. When mailing my AOS and I-864 (affidavit of support), would it be alright if I just send his Tax Return Transcripts from the IRS or will I also need his W-2's and other stuff? I'm asking this because, the guy that does Eric's taxes and has his stuff, is gone on vacation and won't be back for another month.. or two!! Has anyone just mailed the Tax Return Transcripts and got approved with no RFE???

Thanks for any help that you can give!!

Oh and the good news... Eric and I got a puppy last night!!! She is an all white pitbull and her name is Skye!!

Her first bath...

Anyways, just wanted to share that with everyone.. I'm really excited :D

Hope that everyone has a great weekend.. and Laura & Nick, I hope that you get your RFE figured out quickly!! (Hopefully it is a big mistake!!)

You should be fine with the tax transcripts. And congratulations on the new puppy! Skye looks adorable!

Good looking puppy.

I had an RFE cause I didn't submit hubby's W-2, just his 1040. All taken care of now and hopefully things will be back on track mid-week.

awww she's adorableee

awww she's adorableee.

Question though- Did the breeder tell you to give her a bath? Just be careful bathing puppies. If you bathe them too much you will dry out their skin.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Hey, yea we had to... she had fleas and we wanted to wash her asap. We went to PetSmart and they told us to use Mild Dawn on her. They said that it wont dry out her skin.

We found out that our little puppy is deaf. I didn't know this... but supposedly it is more likely in all white dogs. Anyone hear of this? We are gonna start training her with sign language. Does anyone have or had or know of someone who has a deaf dog? Any suggestions on how we go about training her with signs?

Yep, I have read a few places that say it is common for all white dogs to be deaf. No idea why.

Check Amazon for training books, there's tonnes! Most obedience training is "dog" sign language anyway, even for hearing dogs. My dogs follow hand commands. Plus, you could take the PetSmart obedience training if your local store has it, in the Intermediate and Advanced you learn hand signals, but you could easily start in puppy class as well.

My Aunt once had a deaf cat, she tried to teach it sign language, didn't work.

Yeah that is pretty common in all white animals to be deaf. Not all of them are, but genetically speaking the risk is much higher.

I wonder why that is.

I had a deaf dog. She wasn't born deaf- it happened as she got older. I remember crying and being so upset when I realized and phoned the Vet. She calmed me down- she said dogs can function very well without their hearing. I was more cautious when approaching her as not to startle her and she didn't like sleeping with me as often- she hated if I moved and touched her, it would scare her.

Luckily I did use hand signals with her when we trained her- she wasn't highly trained by any means- just the basic commands. She was always a good dog and stayed close to you so we didn't have to worry much about her.

She was a very yappy dog and the barking really calmed down after she went deaf- that was an advantage.

Thanks guys for the replies and link!!

She is an awesome puppy!! Eric and I are going to take her to the training classes that PetSmart offers. That will get us started as to which signs to use for what.

You have to wait til she's had her rabies shot, and she can't have that until she's at least 3 months old, so I think you'll have to wait a while yet. In the meantime, you can easily teach her some basics, like sit, and practice walking with a leash in the yard, or even in the house. Puppies hate leashes, so the earlier you start, the better.

Easiest way to teach a puppy "sit" is get her attention while she's standing in front of you, have a treat in your hand, and slowly move it over her head out of her reach. Her natural body reaction will be to put the bum down on the floor, so her head can follow the treat. Voila! She's sitting! Do that a few times, then alternate between using a treat, and just using a finger pointed up in the air (the obedience doggy sign for sit). Soon she'll be sitting for you with just a hand signal, no treat. Occasional reinforcements/reminders with treats can't hurt though. ;)

Get little little treats so she doesn't fill up on junk. Training treats are the doggy equivalent of potato chips or candies for people. Its just junk food, and should not be a major part of a growing puppy's diet. PetSmart has lots of yummy options. George's favourite has always been Pupperoni, and a wee one that I can't remember the brand name, but I think its a PetSmart exclusive, comes in a small jar with a green label, I think they're liver flavoured bits.

Any time you need her attention and she's not looking at you, stomp on the floor.
