Dear mena members,

salam alaykum everbody

i was surfing the mena forum to get well acqainted about how the whole process goes when i came across some people giving some kind of warning about the fact of getting married during the first trip.

well , as i stated in my previous post my woman and i know eachother for a year or so and we are intending to get married in december inshAllah .

we really don't think we are rushing it and further more she will not be filing the papers right away after she gets back to the states as she will still need to establish residency and get all financial stuff done.

is this really frowned upon by the consulate?

we will be very grateful if you could give us some clarifications regarding this tipoic.

salam to all.

it depends on who is giving the warning. each couple and situation is different. as far as your situation---it sounds like you will do just fine---dont worry.

just an FYI=if you really want to be prepared look up what is called "red flags" that can lead a CO to reject your petition and return it to uscis. Ellis Island has wriiten quite a bit about it.

i will post a few links at the end that will get you started.

be sure your spouse knows exactly what is on your petition and any other paperwork you submit by giving a copy to read over.

i am not sure what you mean by your statement>>

she will not be filing the papers right away after she gets back to the states as she will still need to establish residency

in any event the more info given at the time of filing the better. as long as the spouse has a copy as well.

Is your wife NOT a US resident/citizen already? What is her status here?

Many many people get married on their first visit to their loved one's country. (I'm one of them)

One thing I know about casa (that's where u're at, right???) is that they are extremely difficult to get thru and they take FOREVER to process applications. If it is possible for u to have a visit, not get married, and maybe marry on a 2nd visit, that would make a more solid case for you to prove your relationship/immigration is not fradulent. If you can't afford more than 1 visit, well then, you'll be like many many other couples.

1st visit marriages are not basis for rejection nor are 2nd visit marriages basis for approval. It all goes based upon evidence of a valid and non-fraudulent relationship.

Good luck

What is the rush? Don't get married on the first visit. See if you like each other first in person and get to know each others families. Do more than one visit in person. Get engaged in person first. Have the celebration, take lots of pictures. Then apply for the K1 and get married in the US with her friends and family around and with the white dress and all. The K3 takes a long time and you may never see each other again and end up in divorce.

I wouldn't do it because I have heard the K-3 route takes a lot longer. The k-1 process for me and my husband was only 7 months. Some people with a k-3 visa are taking a lot longer.

Are you kidding me? Just when you think you know what cosulates are thinking they change the rules. How can you telll somebody to marry first time or not? Bottom line is if they love each other enough they will get through anything weather they get denied or not. If you have bonifide relationship you will get here. Maybe first time you not get here. There are no rules. Dont get married on first visit blah blah blah dont you know they figuring out what you saying and what people doing. I been involved with person I thought that loved me but got denied. YOu know what, maybe they were right. Trying to beat the system. Good job, maybe let it be. If you know what i mean.

If I had to do it over again I would have done the CR1 (or whatever the visa is called that gets you a green card before they even get here). My husband came on a K-1 and was here lightening fast (would have been even faster had there not been a bombing near the consulate right before our scheduled interview)

Then he sat and waited, and waited, and waited for his EAD card. Yes, we were together faster, but I personally think it would have been much better had he gotten a CR1, had a green card already even though we would have been apart longer, and he could have worked immediately.

Onto the OP's question??? Personal opinions aside........ Apparently it looks suspicious/bad if you get married the first time you ever meet in person according to the consulates. But it sure seems like a lot of VJ people do it and get approved so...

Sometimes i wonder if we giving advice to wrong poeple/ Making it so hard for consulates to decide. Sorry but we don't really know. I've been on other side. Thinking he loved me. We really dont know what they see. I know in some cases they are wrong. They are not god. But most cases get resolved if they love each other.

Wat does it matter, vacation trips for wedding arent real..expectations in marriage is both parties are mature peaceful and responsible, respectful in thier roles once when realitY of married life(after the cultural shock) is assumed. getting to know or see them is not really getting to know and see them, this is why so many arranged marriages work out so well.. In other words CASA can shove thier assumptions and requirements if this is one.
