My wife and her son are applying for AOS. We sent off their I-485 packets about three weeks ago. We received a receipt for the checks about a week and a half later and an appointment letter for the biometrics yesterday. The biometrics so far as I can tell from this site is just taking fingerprints. My question is I have a job at the same time as the interview, my work is freelance, do I need to be there for the biometric appointment or could I have a family member take my wife and son. From what I understand the actual interview takes place at another time. Thanks for all help.

Biometrics is a separate appointment at your local ASC (application support center) and your wife can go there all by herself.
