Many claim Obama leans toward socialism.

My view is Yes he does but, he is a reflection of what people want now: gov't to take care of more and more while they give less and less.

Anyway, these are some new "unearthed" words from the mouth of Obama (mixed with some newer stuff)

First of all, sound bites taken out of context are without merit.

I'm a film and audio editor. I can take an interview and make it sound/look like whatever goals I desire.

I listened to the entire interview at www.eyeonbooks.com/ibp_obama.php and found that the views are not

as they have been represented.

If you listen to the entire interview, he's saying that all Americans have a responsibility.

Should we decide to believe that there is not a division of power and wealth,

and that the historical disenfranchisement of certain people puts them at a social and economic disadvantage,

we will continue to live in a dangerous society. He further states that regardless of disadvantages, people

need to take responsibility and not blame everything on circumstances that can be overcome.

I don't know about you, but I have no desire to live in a country where people don't have equal opportunity

as well as equal responsibility.

The misrepresentations in this video are what's known as propaganda.

The person who created it had an obvious agenda, which was not to show the truth, but their view.

It's very clear Obama's commentary here is very simplified poly-speech. It's the text that goes along with the video that is basically trying to sway one's viewpoint to being anti-Obama.

And yet another red scare post. The uneducated spreading and perpetuating more uneducated nonsense. There is nothing wrong with socialism. Let's move into the 21st century.

Obama a socialist???

What about America in general???

We just made the largest move toward socialism in history. Our government now controls the banks. The trickle down effect is that now the government can effectively control anything.

Bush (with a lot of help from Cheney) has systematically reduced individual freedoms and has been covertly shifting the balance of power in Washington DC to himself ever since 9/11/2001.

This is a much different country than it was only 10 years ago.

I guess people haven't got the memo yet that they aren't very smart to cry about socialism in a country that's long practiced it.

It's very true that much of Obama's political viewpoints were formulated due to his perceptions of racial inequality.

What I believe makes him unique and different from 'black activists' (which is the politically negative connotation of the black man) is how he came to those conclusions. Obama spent the formative years of his life in Hawaii, where there are so many racial ethnicities that his 'brownness' was of little consequence. When he lived in Indonesia, his race was also not an issue. Also, as a child who grew up with positive role models so he had a familial support network. In short, he didn't grow up as an 'angry young black man'. When he tried to assume the role later during his youth, it didn't 'fit'.

What happens to us as a child is very telling. Obama grew up knowing that there doesn't have to be division of the races because he lived it. I think his message to the black community is very much indeed a message of hope. I think if white people care to really listen to him they learn his talk of race isn't at all about creating racial divides. It is rather about us learning to rise each other up instead of living in old fears.
