Hi All!!!

I just mailed this week the visa petition and today I joined this site. I have a few questions, I will ask each in its own thread.

Question #1

If there is a age diffrence between the me and my fiancee. Does that make any diffrence? What if the age gap is 30 years?

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks,

I think it doesnt matter! in my case, my fiance is 45 and I'm 21. We are both single so we're both free to marry. What's wrong in that? But it's really an a slight adjustment for both of you but you'll make as long as love is always there. Goodluck and welcome to VJ...

welcome to vj! As others have said, i do not think the age difference is a problem as long as you have proof of geniune relationship and have met each other in person in the last two years.

I haven't read any guidelines in USCIS for age gap. Not sure though, but I guess you just need to have lots of proof for your relationship. But then, maybe seek some more advice from other with the same case and same consul. I don't know how strict the embassy here in Manila.

Yes, study up on what Consular officers in Manila are looking for in the way of bona fides. You can be sure that the more time you spend together in person, the better off you'll be. Time together is the best evidence. Go there once and get engaged to a girl 30 years younger, then wait to see her again in the USA, and you're just asking for trouble.

When I called to talk to someone about the visa process they said they do not care about the age difference..they care about the proof of it being a bonafide relationship and sincere

Something I just wrote on another post:

The only thing I think you should worry about is the embassy holding up the process for no reason other than to test your commitment. I think they do this to people with shaky pasts and when there is a significant age gap. Waiting 6 to 7 months for a fiancee visa is a long time and to be honest, when you get to month 5, it is something you just want done. USE personnel know that if your love is genuine, you'll wait a year, two years, whatever it takes. If I were you, I'd be very diligent to collect every little bit of evidence that proves a loving and sincere relationship. I'd also visit her more than 1 time. It is a real commitment to put up the money and times to travel to the RP, and, in my opinion, visiting is the best evidence.

Don't wait until near the end of the process to collect evidence. Build a process by which you collect evidence on a regular basis (paper based evidence since she'll take it to the interview with her). Also, besides visiting as much as possible, if I were you, I'd also be at the interview even though the consular officer may not allow you to attend the actual interview.

I have found that the K1 process is like clock work all the way to the interview. The interview is where they can throw a wrench in the middle of things.

The key is going to be actually conducting a relationship like someone with a bona fide relationship would, while bearing in mind that some concrete evidence needs to be gathered as you go along. Consular officers are trained to look at the totality of circumstances. A suitcase full of printed out emails isn't going to override the fact that the couple only met once, for a few days, hasn't seen each other in person for months, the foreign fiance can't name the USC's children and former spouses or say how many siblings they have etc.

People with bona fide relationships live like they have a bona fide relationship and it's not that difficult to spot the fake from the real.

If and old fart like me is bringing a filipina thirty years my junior with a blind daughter to the US to marry, then they're going to want to know some things about our relationship that tell them its real. Enough to overcome the natural conclusion I'm hiring a maid.

I'm just pointing out some worst case scenario to help in preparing for the rest of the process. I know nothing more about the OP's relationship than he's stated. The important thing is the a Consular officer is going to know or want to know a LOT about it before granting two visas including how the blind child's education is going to be paid for.

age does'nt matter guys good luck !!!!!

Believe me, age difference DOES matter. Just be together for her interview.

A large age difference in and of itself is not sufficient reason for denial. However, in the high volume, high fraud countries of which the PI is both, large age differences can be red flags. It's a part of the whole picture and the rest of the picture needs to overcome the red flag. The clearest picture of bona fides is painted with documented time together.

Make sure you have a lot of proof of your love, there are a lot of couples on here with an age gap of 20+ years and are approved no problem.

I think an age gap may bring a little doubt BUT... as many have said before, PROOF of a bonafide REAL relationship will ease any doubt or hesitations.

I for one have 16 years on my Fiancee and even till now, I am questioned by people and I'm sure more just wonder, HOW it can be real... Well I am NOT some desperate guy that needs to go to another country to find someone to love. I like most of you, found love when I least expected it. It just so happens that we have a 16 year age gap, BUT we have so many similarities with likes and dislikes that I think I found the female version of ME! I know SCARY!!! Heck she even has the same crooked sense of humor I have and will laugh at things most wouldnt find funny. When I am with her, honestly I FORGET the age difference, whether its because I act like Im five years old or she acts like she is much older... OR we just meet in the middle, I dont care... It works, and thats ALL THAT SHOULD MATTER!!!

So I guess what I would say to you...If your relationship is real for each other, FORGET what others may think and like almost everyone has said before, just be prepared to prove it so you can once again be with her.

Good Luck My Friend!
