No, it's not a big deal - most of us are apt to spend this kind of money on clothes and accessories. Way to go 'one of us' Hockey mom.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

This is not at all unusual. It's the negative way that it's presented that's disturbing.

Not at all unusual for whom exactly? Elitists? Monied folks? Women of leisure who do the charity lunch circuit? Surely this is not usual for thrifty, let's meat-cleaver the wasteful spending mavericks?

The 'presentation' was in a financial statement issued by .... the McCain/Palin campaign!

The presentation I'm referring to is the in the tank for Obama liberal media. That the double standard among journalist in reporting on both sides delights you is also disturbing.

It's always nice watching the pretender's 'hockey mom' mask get ripped off.

You have to pretend that the Obama's and Biden's don't have expensive wardrobes to go there. At least our tax dollars didn't go to this purchase.

I'm willing to bet that neither man has spent close to half as much on clothes, hair cuts and 'pampering' expenses in the last 6 months. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that both mens' budgets would be likely less than a quarter of hers alone. However, that's not the point that people are objecting to. Is she a maverick who objects to unecessary spending, or is she not? This budget rather hints to the idea that surprise, surprise she's not.

I think you'd need to prove that comment. It's well known that Obama has the largest warchest in political history - none of that money coming from tax dollars or campaign trusts.

That being said, I agree that it shouldn't be a big deal what is spent on cleaning up Palin. It happens to anyone thrust into the public eye. And it's certainly something she's used to - the pageant circuit prepared her for it.

I don't find it out of the ordinary considering the amount of money funneled into campaigning. Hillary Clinton spent around $160,000 on a private jet travel for her and her advisers in 2006. Her entertaining bill was at least $746,450, with tabs ranging from a $124,155 bill at the New York Hilton.

She's running for VP, not student body president, so get real. If her wardrobe was from WalMart, she'd be criticized as trailer trash. This is not a big deal in the real world. Sophisticated pol watchers know that.
