I think the point is, it does not matter whether you are a moderator, organizer, or just a plain member. We all acknowledge the fact that we have differences in perceptions, beliefs, principles, culture, etc. That however, does not give us the freedom to go ahead and feel entitled to degrade or belittle anybody, Filipina or not.

These things are NOT pointed out for the purpose of getting back at anybody. It is a reminder.

now that i totally agree with.

It's like the Christianity-Islam animosity. It never ends.

Know what? If nothing good comes out of this, I am going to exit VJ with my Pinay dignity intact.

Yeah, but conversations can easily spiral down and then it becomes a flame war again. I want to have a healthy heart but some of the stuff I read at VJ gives me palpitations. I feel especially hurt when we are bashed and also the Mexicans. I dunno, I just have a special spot for them in my heart. I feel like they are fellow Filipinos. Poor but hard-working, and yet they always have a smile on their face. Parang Pinoy talaga. I always smile at them whenever I see them and I try to converse with my little Spanish. Hola! Como esta? Buenas dias! Uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco..... ciento. Oh di ba, Spanish na yun.

Uh-oh, not me, I would never dare start a conversation about Islam and Christianity. Never, never, never, ever, ever, ever

I also don't dare go to MENA. I heard Filipina bashing is milder compared to the bashing that goes on there.

It will end if we just let it end. I for one have appreciated everything you have given back to VJ. I and others don't want to see you exit VJ. VJ is only as good as the participation of its members. Pinay Wife, this bad blood hasn't just started. It has been going on for quite sometime, especially this past summer. My comment about seeing it from both sides hadn't nothing to do with you. It was based upon what I have seen and heard the past 6 months or so.

VJ and especially the Philippine Forum needs people like you!

could this be called a stereotype? I've seen lots without smiles too ... and not working. In fact ... I've seen the same for many different cultures ... peoples ... my own included.

anyway ... perceptions are wonderful things ...

Oh, I knew that, Danny. No worries.

I actually was not active in VJ after I arrived in the US and thought about leaving after I read some of the Filipina bashings. I agree that some of our ladies got out of hand. I must admit though that I also got out of hand yesterday in one of the threads (and I reported myself  ) but I did not get a ban. Thank you, Mods.

And thank you for the nice comment, Danny.

I guess you can call it stereo-typing of another kind.

Talk about work. I tried to apply for a job at the county and more than 100 applicants showed up for one position that was advertised. Almost every week, there are factory/office closures in our small town. Just last week, a paper mill company closed down. Eighty jobs lost. Phew!

Can we just all head down to the beach and drink tequila? :energy:

Hola, Besame Mucho!

Ayayay! Usted tiene razón! Valiente, valeroso y aún recatado. Esto es un Pinay!

(You are right! Courageous, brave and yet demure. That's a Pinay!)

Wow! I can write Spanish. Muchas gracias to on-line translation. Some of their translations, however, are not perfect so I'm not sure if above is accurate. From my limited knowledge of Spanish, I can say that it is. ¿USTED piensa tan también, Besame?

¿Qué tal, Señora? No hay nada mal con tu Español, con la excepción de los adjetivos que fueron usados. Sabes qué, most of the Spanish adjectives must be the same gender as the subject that they modify.
