The French national archive released a clip from a documentary that features an interview with John McCain as a war prisoner. The video has McCain in a bed, shirtless and smoking, being interviewed by French reporter Francois Chalais and talking about being shot down over Hanoi and parachuting into a lake.¹

The documentary rights belong to the interviewer's widow, Mei Chen Chalais, and some broadcasters have used the footage without permission. McCain's web site also features a few seconds of the footage without approval.¹

Sometimes A.J a video is just a video. However, there seemed to be something regarding playing the video without the proper authority. Should I watch the video knowing that it's been sanctioned by the widow - or should I not because it's not?

I didn't watch the video, but nobody should make fun of John McCain as a POW (if in fact that was your intent). Now John McCain the politician is a whole different matter... you can & should make fun of that John McCain all day long. However Kaydee calling someone a ####### is like OJ Simpson calling someone a murderer... just a tad hypocritical.

Not my intent at all. Kaydee just likes to jump to conclusions because we don't agree on politics. I suppose I should have added a disclaimer that this wasn't a political post, but thought it was a video that people should see. No one, including kaydee, can understand what John McCain went through. When his voice cracks, it's hard not to get choked up.

That said, kaydee doesn't like anyone he doesn't agree with. He must be a real joy to be around in real life. I don't hold anything against him personally because of his poltical views. It's too bad he's got to make it personal. He'd do himself a favor if he'd realize that he's not always on the right side of an argument, or knows all the answers...but perhaps that would shake his whole belief system. Too bad for him.

Correct, I don't. However, I was only trying to find out why that part was posted. Either this is just a video or it's not. If it is, why mention the parts about the McCain campaign not having permission to show it?
