Hi Folks,

I was wondering if anybody here in the UK has ever made a trip to the US and been denied entry? if so for what reasons?

I am sure we have all been here in a our own minds at some point.. I am just trying to learn from other people's experiences. I am heading over

for thanksgiving and hopefully staying through till mid January and of course I am a little nervous but will be prepared with the suggested paperwork

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Dave.

Personally no.

I have seen lots of posts from people who have.

But when you think of the numbers, a very low percentage have problems.

There has only been one recent British case that I can think of off the top of my head....you might be able to dig it up in some of the older threads. I think it had something to do with the OH having visited several times in a short period of time.

In general, the Brits (likely after Canadians) have the easiest time getting through POE's compared to people of other nationalities.

Hello, well yes it happened to me, but this is probably due to the fact i was thinking to book my return ticket when i got there - they did not believe i was going for a visit as my husband is a US citizen - they did no care what i said they just believed what they wanted to believe.

put on a plane right back - at my expense

and just so you know the immigration at the airports (well the one i went to) treat everyone like a piece of #######....i mean the way i saw them talking to other people and to me - a young 24 yr old girl - was disgusting. you would think i had just commited murder. they think so high of themselves- even said to me "we are respected more than doctors because we wear this uniform" - yeh right.

i can no longer visit my husband until i get a k3 or green card.

but i am sure you will have no problems as we were naive and made a mistake

good luck!

Ultimately it's up to the officer at POE, just tell the truth and provide the ties, that's all you can do.

A condition of the VWP is the need for a return ticket.

I can imagine an Immigration officer would be in BIG trouble if they let anyone in on VWP with a one way ticket, if I was in there place I certainly wouldn't risk my job etc; on someone I dont even know because they didn't read the rules .

Like what was said all you can do is tell the truth and make sure you are well informed with the Evidence of ties to the UK you will need to provide.

Remember all Immigration officers will see you as a terrorist until proven otherwise!

Gareth was turned away in Detroit....BUT we had not filed for visa yet....he had gotten the 6month visitor visa....but then could not provide enough ties that he would for sure 100% be going back to England at the end of the 6 months....

If you guys have applied for fiancee visa already I think you would be good to go as you can say you obviously have to go back to London to finish that process!

I believe Gemmie nearly got turned away after the officer saw how many entry stamps she had in her passport for the same POE. She just got asked a load of questions then they let her through.

i have been lucky only sent for further questioning twice, then they make u feel awful, big mistake for me was i didnt have my itinerary on me for my return flight, i always have it and they never ask for it, this time i was rushing round and forgot to pick it up and they asked for it. They didnt turn me away but he was thinking about it and was pretty mean. said if i tried to enter to soon i would be turned away, last visit was May so im thinking i should be ok to try again.
