I think that's the bottom line. The 'victim' was attempting to add an 'attack' angle to lend credibilty to a story about stolen cash that had very little merit to start with. The rest is spin from the media. Sad and stupid #### the lot of them.

And you'll never see the media turn around and say "oops - we goofed. Sorry for wasting everyone's time". Now instead of a battered victim of a race-hate crime, they'll now make her out to be a cynical liar. All without any admission that they're taking the material a bit more seriously than is warranted (though doubtless - because of the public nature of the case the woman may receive a stiffer punishment than she would ordinary for wasting police time).

No one uses Obama's first name when creating political slogans though, which rather dimishes the political angle yet again in my opion.

Ehhhhhh how goofy would an "O" be on her face....plus, a lot of people do just refer to him as "Barrack".

As for her being the victim of the media, and this not being politically motivated...

SHE was the one taking pictures of herself and posting along with her story on the internet.

No idea, and quite honestly I care somewhat less. However, it's quite clear that if people demanded more from journalism, they would get more back and this kind of 'non' story would be less likely to happen.

We can either perpetuate the divisions or try to bring everyone closer together. This kind of attention for someone who is clearly lame in more senses than one does nothing to further anything except BS.

However goofy 'O' was, it would have been more difficult to determine it was self inflicted, lending even more credence to the idea that she is a huge idiot on top of everything else. I don't do conspiracy, period.

Some of my thoughts....

First of all, when this was believed to be valid...I didn't hear anyone playing down the racial or political motivation.

I didn't hear anyone saying, "she was just attacked, let's just hope she's OK".

Instead (and I'm not accusing ANYONE here) there was outrage.

Second thought...I wonder if both campaigns will stick to their reactions to this.

McCain Campaign

"We're shaken up by this. It's sick and disgusting".

Obama Campaign

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the young woman for her to make a speedy recovery, and we hope that the person who perpetrated this crime is switfly apprehended and brought to justice".

Third...the fact that she left her home state to help the McCain Campaign in what has been perpetrated as a very racists region, and considering her comments and actions in perpetrating this crime...it's very logical to consider this was motivated by a political passion, as opposed to monetary".

Fourth...Is she mentally ill? Most likely. Is she a racist? Doesn't matter. Was this politically motivatd? More likely than not? Does she need help?

Absolutely? Are there others like her? As sure as the sun will rise each day.

Hopefully, MaCain's Camp will release a statement admonishing this woman's hoax.

When I first read the initial story, the part that made me suspicious was the woman's refusal to accept any medical treatment, yet she was all too eager to take her story to the press. That just doesn't make any sense.

I believe it was a local paper the reported the story and then the blogosphere ran with it like a wildfire. They should all be embarrassed for not checking out the story further, however, they probably looked at as, this is what has been reported, and we're just relaying that....more info to come.

this was politically motivated. look at her myspace page from the google cache, look at her first listed interest. look at all of her friends, almost all (if i remember correctly) of her top 8 friends who had her in their top 8 also had politics listed as their top interest.

If, if? Don't give me 'if this then that's' just to create a climate of suspicion. Knock it on the head for being the idiocy at the fringes that it is and should remain. If other campaign volunteers are involved it still makes this nothing but loony tune stuff.
