Your question is hard to answer when you don't fill in profile details or timeline.

How did you enter the USA???? K-1 or K-3 visa???

:time:http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=54132

You filed for SOMETHING, I assume country is Pilippeans, how about showing that? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...rCP&CODE=01

If entry is by K-1, you can apply for SSN with 76 days of entry, after that and EAD or Green-card will be needed, if SSA is not giving you a SSN and you do have K-1 and is less than 76 days since entry, either go to another SSA office, or go back and demand a supervisor, they CANNOT deny a K-1 the SSN while I-94 is valid, and less than 76 days have passed since entry. You may be dealing with a MORON at SSA.

Print out an bring: https://s044a90.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0100203500 Point pr part C

If by K-3, you will need EAD or Green-card to get SSN

Well you lawyer is WRONG I got my SSN before I got married for as long as your I94 form still have 14 days before expire.

my thoughts to you is to visit the nearest SSA and you will know. Bring passport with the I-94. I was given an SSN before my marriage but not indicating that i will be allowed to work, they told me to come back after marriage to change my name. when i came back, they cant give me since In need my EAD and green card. I also knew some that when they applied SSN after marriage they were granted.

Chrissa if you need help there are plenty of people here who can. I live in NJ so I can also give you a couple of pointers or help if you need any.

Take care.

You can go to any SSA office unless you live in an area serviced by a Card Center and then you would have to apply at a Card Center. If you do actually live in NJ, then you can go to any SSA or if you prefer, even a Card Center.

Find SSA offices:

http://www.ssa.gov/locator

If you have K-1 status and have not been here 76 days, you are eligible to be assigned a work authorized SSN based on the K-1 status and the I-94 as the proof of your K-1 status before or after getting married.

After the 76th day or if you have K-3 status you will need an Form I-766 (EAD card) or I-551 stamp or card to be assigned a work authorized SSN.

You will need to provide proof of age identity and work authorization. In most cases the I-94, I-766 or I-551 and passport is all you need before getting married, but I suggest taking your birth certificate as well.

After getting married for the corrected card you just need the I-94, I-766 or I-551 and the marriage cerificate as long as the marriage certificate has info such as your age or date of birth that can be compared to the SSN record. If waiting to apply for the original SSN and card until after getting married take the passport and birth certificate too.
