Hey guy,

I moved to US 2 year ago (green card holder through marriage). Now my 2-year green card expires and time to apply for 10-year green card.

Does anybody know if biometrics need for that? Since they took my photo and fingerprints two years ago??

Or I just fill out I-90 form??

Thank you

Once you send in your packet they'll schedule you for another appointment.

My husband just got his 10-year. They will do biometrics. An interview is required, but they may dismiss it (we didn't have one). A quick tip-- I am not sure how translations are from cyrillic to English, but you will need your SSN and the names of your parents at biometrics. Ammar came back worried he had spelled their names wrong because there is no standard translation from their alphabet to ours--it's whatever someone feels like at that moment. So if there is that issue and you want to be sure, just write it and bring it with you.

Can I choose the date for biometrics?? or they schedule it automatically??

The thing is that it is time for me to apply for a new card (it says - apply 90 days before your old card expires) and I think I can do it electronically. However, I am out of the country at the moment and will come back to US only in 2 months. I don't want to miss my biom. appointment.

And I-90 form is all I gotta file, is that right?

They choose the date for you. I don't know about filing electronically, as we did paper. You have to send in all your evidences with your form and money. You may want to wait until you are back if it will be within the 90 days. We got our biometrics appointment in a month and the permanent card approval 3 months after that. We filed through VSC.

The interview (I forgot to clarify) is after biometrics and a seperate process. I hope I didn't confuse anything.

I'll be back to US and my card will still be valid -45 days more. So I hope it's not gonna be too late to file I-90.

Julianna thanks again - now I have an idea of the process

Since you'll still have 45 days, I would wait just to be sure. CSC generally moves faster than VSC, and I don't know who you are going to file through.. but they acknowledged our filing within about 2 weeks with a reciept. that reciept letter is a written extension of your 2-year card for another year. So no worries on being out of status or needing approval in that 90-day window. I don't know how together you are from the evidence perspective, but I know we just had shoved everything into a box and had to organize it, which took a couple of days and a 4" binder. I'm strange about it though, as lots of people send way less with the same positive results.

We sent our stuff in April 4th and they got it and gave us a reciept 2 weeks later. Then, his biometrics letter came about May 5-9 and his appointment was May 27. Some people I have read about on VJ filed their petition (I-90) and then were given a biometrics within 2-3 weeks. That is why I would wait since you don't want to miss it, and you probably do not want to go through the hassel of rescheduling.

After his biometrics we heard exactly nothing until about August 26/27/28 when we got the approval letter saying his new GC had been ordered (which meant they waived our interview requirement) and would arrive in 2-6 weeks. We got it 4 weeks later.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

For all of our "visitors" - see, this is why julianna is always welcome here. Not only does she stop by to add her two kopeks about how messed up our relationships are, but she also HELPS with actual VJ-related stuff sometimes.

Perhaps if you did the same we'd be happy to accomodate all your unfounded stereotypical postings as well. Give it a shot!

Mariya:

I am sorry if I misunderstood your post, but I got the impression that you were a condtional permanent resident that got her residence through marriage.

If you got your green card through marriage, and it was a 2-year card, you shouldn't use form I-90. You need to use form I-751.

I-90 is used to renew an unconditional10-year card, I-751 is used to remove conditions on a 2-year card that was obtained through marriage. There are instructions for form I-751 and the supporting docs in the guides above. I believe that there is also a pinned topic about what kind of evidence to send in the "Removing Conditions" tread. Make sure that USCIS receives your application before your conditional card expires.

Once you send your application, they will schedule biometrics. Depending on your local center, it is usually scheduled anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months after NOA1. Some offices will let you do an early walk-in, but you will need your biometrics letter to do a walk-in. That is, if your office allows walk-ins, you can go in any time after you receive your biometrics letter. You will need an ID and the appointment letter .

ROC:

11/07/2011 Mailed I-751 and evidence

11/09/2011 NOA issue date

11/14/2011 Check cashed

11/16/2011 NOA received

11/22/2011 Biometrics

Relax, buddy! 23 days is nothing. Soon enough you'll get scheduled.

Evilmonkee is right-- it's the I-751. That's what I get for hastily passing over form names.

Yeah... it took us about 1.5-2 months to have an appointment scheduled.

I am surprised! My wife's appointment for biometrics is today and her NOA1 says January 7th. She received her appointment notice just one week after NOA1.

However, this is for AOS and EAD, not ROC.
