You are currently at Step 5 on the K1 Flowchart. Your petition goes to NVC where it stays for a couple of weeks (sometimes more, sometimes less) then is forwarded to your fiancé's Embassy/Consulate (is the short answer).

P.S.

Congratulations...!!

Give it a few weeks, then contact NVC for status, either TALK to an operator, or email NVC.

You can begin preparing for the consulate interview by doing the following:

1) Get together all evidence that supports an ongoing relationship since the time you filed (March 2008 to present) and continue to collect any aditional evidence e.g. phone bills, emails up until your fiance gets Package 3 from the consulate. He will need to bring all of that evidence with him to his interview, which could be sometime within the next 4 months (Look at the processing times for Montreal on this site).

2) Get ready new letters of intent to marry, though no need to date them until you know the interview date (they should be dated close to the interview date).

3) Look over the I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Again this does not need to be completed until closer to the interview date, but to get an idea of what you are expected to produce would be good to know now. e.g. letter from employer, pay stubs, tax returns, etc.

I really like to have a solid understanding of the process before I even begin, however I understand that others are able to operate just fine on the 'need to know' basis. I also like to have everything done (for example fill out the entire I-134, except for date and signature) early, so when the time comes, just print, date and sign. But again I realize that it's just my style and other ways of operating are equally effective.
