Any one still waiting for visa from Egypt since July07?

Waiting for the actual visa or waiting for approval to get the visa? My husband's visa appt was June 08 and we haven't heard anything but AP, if that is what you are referring to?

This is really un-necessary for such a long wait from Cairo. Oh, my congressman will be getting a call and letter from me. You have some people who came months after us, yet their husbands are here now. I understand Qadr of Allah(swt) though. Everything is for a reason.

I read on here a long time ago about the way the Embassies work once the Congressman/Senators are involved. Can someone please give me the link here. I can't seem to find it anywhere. It was from a former worker, who said something about what cases get worked on first.

I'm praying for everyone. Certain names Usama, ibn Laden(yes from Egypt) gets to go thru all this bull for no reason at all. We are all now, guilty by names now.

Mohammed, Usama's, Laden aint going anywhere so I guess we wait. I'm just so upset right now.

Please forgive me I seem to be ranting on and on now. It's so hard to see others who filed in Nov07 and their husbands are here. I'm happy for the couple, upset with the red tapes involved. Who gets to wait 2 years vs 2 months. It's sheer madness.

As it's been said before, this journey isn't for the weak. Yes, it sucks and it isn't right and something should be done about it. But, until that happens, we're all stuck in what ever situation the embassies decide to put us in. I have recently contacted my senator and congressman too. Here's hoping they actually get some answers.

Im going to give an example of us for instance. Adams name isnt legally Adam. His name is Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed. I dont really believe that basically bcz of his name is what took so long for us back in 2007 to receive his visa. His interview was May 9th. 3 1/2 months after that the AP was finished and a movement certificate was requested which we tried for 4 months to obtain. We were told that our AP was going to have to be done over bcz time was wasted on begging the Egyptian police for the MC paper. There are tons of Ahmeds & Mohameds in Egypt and every case is different. I dont think they just keep people waiting based so much on their names, but there is alot of work to be done in making the security clearance go through. Some people have it completed faster and they have the name Mohamed or a couple of other different but common muslim names, bcz I know of a few Egyptians that got visas in 2007 only after about a month or so of security clearance.

As far as waiting forever on your fella getting his visa. I do strongly suggest you get with your senator. Your going to need to write to them and give them permission to find out on your behalf for what is going on with your case. It was very helpful to me to have the Senators office help out in whatever way they could. They dont make the security clearance go any faster bcz that is a job that has to be done and when its done its done, but the Senators office can speed up other things or let you know what is really going on by them talking with the Embassy.

Well Ladies,

Allahu Akbar! I went to have a talk with my Congressman about three weeks ago; now my husband's visa(K-1) is ready for him and now we are waiting for them to send his passport back.

Now, don't think this was easy. We filed in July/Aug 07 he interviewed in April 08. They asked for his passport in July08, and basically sat on it until the threats came from me. I was serious about it. I was willing to sue, because why did they ask for the passport if they was just going to sit on it?

It's a shame how stupid they act in Egypt. Yes, I'm not typing wrong, he is my husband. We got married Islamically when it was not legal to marry without US permission.

I admit I complain about America; but you know, I catch myself so much and thank Allah, I don't have to be involved with the craziness called "Egyptian government" I love the average people living there and feel sorry for them.

May Allah take La Husseine La Mubarak away and his troops; in'sha'Allah. People want freedom and they want to breath.

I pray for each and everyone of us going thru this bull #######.

If you are waiting from the summer of last year. Please go and see your congressman/senator; because it's no reason you should be waiting this long, when people came months later than us, and their husbands are here and we are still waiting for K-1.

Also, names does make a difference. Usama Atta surely gets lots of name hits, okay? and it's not an uncommon name in Egypt. Whatever, just please those waiting go and fight for your husbands so you can be together.
