1.we all know that during interview they want to have proof of relationship but we are wondering what do they ask at port of entry i.e. JFK ..should we carry our phone records or email records or any other proof of relationship?( they are heavy in weight when we are given only 23 kg. weight)

2.At port of entry do they want to see vaccination record form no. DS-3025?

3.Should we carry X-ray they have taken during medical examination? I know they give yellow sealed envelope but do we carry x-ray ?

4.If someone has a 8 hours hold on JFK airport before going further with domestic flight...can he/she go out of new york airport if yes where can one put the luggage?

BASICALLY WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT DO THEY ASK AT ANY PORT OF ENTRY ...PLEASE GIVE A LIST.

Nope - you're done with all that after your interview

2.At port of entry do they want to see vaccination record form no. DS-3025?

Nope - only the contents of the envelope.

3.Should we carry X-ray they have taken during medical examination? I know they give yellow sealed envelope but do we carry x-ray ?

I think so (although not entirely sure, but I'll be carrying it just in case).

I'm assuming that your flight does indeed have an 8 hour layover? Because there's no way it's gonna take you that long to clear the POE - most peeps are done with it in 20 minutes or so. As for your luggage, well I guess you'll have to either keep it with you, or check out JFK's left luggage facilities (if there are any).

1) No

2) No

3) No, they do not need to see it

4) Of course, you have been admitted for entry into all of the USA not just the airport.... So if you have time, by all means

We also had a big lay over at MIA, like 7 hours or so. Even though it only took about 15 minutes to have my husband's paperwork processed at POE, by the time we were done with baggage claim and customs, we only had like 5 hours left. We then decided to rent a car and go to a nice restaurant, drive around and come but even the car rental people thought we were crazy. They said that we would not make it on time because of traffic and all that.

So consider the fact that your POE may take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours and that traffic is hellish in NYC.

Technically you can leave the airport, the problem is airports are not usually that close to anything else, the second problem and possibly more important, when you go to the airport in your country, how many hours before your flight are you supposed to show up. If you leave the airport you will have to go through the security checks, so the way to look at it is you can expect to spend as much as 2 hours after arriving at JFK on getting through customs and immigration, getting your baggage claimed, and taking care of the various things you have to take care of when you switch from international flights to domestic (including standing in potentially the slowest moving line you've ever seen, also possibly one of the longest!). It might go pretty quick but you never really know. You can presumably check your bags for your next flight pretty much right away, then you don't have to worry about dragging them around when you leave the airport. Here's your chance to leave the airport, you've probably still got about 6 hours to do something, but here's the bad news, you have to treat getting back in the airport like your first airport, show up for security checks 3 hours in advance (3 hours!?! is it necessary? sometimes, and it'll suck to miss your flight). So looking at that, you have maybe 3 hours, finding your way out of the airport and to a taxi is going to take some time, these airports are massive, and just getting out that front door is probably only half the trip...

While it probably sounds like a good idea to go wandering around on that long layover, there is potentially a huge amount of hassle and problems you could run into and odds are pretty high you are better off to pace through the airport a few times, there's plenty to see there and lots of room to walk around, a good variety of food, various wi-fi spots (though probably fee based). I had thought I would do the same on my trip having fairly long layovers in a few spots but once I was in the position to actually do it, I realized it just wasn't worth it.

I posted this at work and got sidetracked and Mononoke28's post pretty much covers what I was getting at... and with way less words and a relatively quick PoE experience.

On the question of leaving the airport....

Yes, but JFK does have an "internal mall" of sorts--so why not avail of it?

Yep, I had a 5 hour layover at JFK and I didn't get bored because there was enough to see and do :)

Of course 5 hours is not enough to leave the airport, go to the city and come back in time for the next flight so leaving wasn't even an option.
