I have a question. I am about to have an interview, but my passport expired two days ago. I don't have AP so I can't go back to my country to apply for a new one. Can I go to my interview with an expired passport? And if not, is it possible to apply for a new passport out of country? Any ideas would be helpful!!!

I believe the passport must be valid.

You can get a new passport from within the US. Check HERE.

it's important that you renew your passport right away,go to your nearest embassy/consulate,for sure they can renew your passport ...

They definetely can. I did it too 2 years ago. My passport was about to expire and it was inconvenient time to fly to Europe at the time so contacted nearest Dutch consulate. Drove there, filled out a form and could pick it up a week later. The requirements might be different for Canadian consulate but you should be able to renew it. If you don't get your passport in time, you should at least give it a try is what I guess. Maybe they'll interview you and allow you to come back later when you have your new passport. Call USCIS and try to convince them you're totally surprised by your discovery.

I just renewed my Polish Passport few months ago with one of our consulates here in the US. You should definitely contact Canadian consulat or embassy and inquire about it ASAP. I'm sure it's pretty easy to get new passport. good luck!

Ok, but my passport is expired. It expired a few days ago. So can I still just go to a local office here in the USA and get it renewed or because its expired do I have to apply for a total new one?? I have been given info that I have to apply for a new one which takes alot of work because of Canadian passport requirements. Any info??

My passport is expired .. At the interview, IO looked at it but didn't say anything. I have a current U.S. driver license, though.

Thankyou so much for you post. Gives me some hope and now I don't feel as stressed! I still don't have an interview date but its coming soon as they have told me already. So, I guess I should not apply for a new passport then because when I do, I have to send back my old one with the application. And what if my interview is before it comes back? So anyways, thanks again for your answer! and all you guys answers!
