My husband applied for his work permit renewal (2nd time), and it was granted back in June, 2008. They said they were sending the card. It never arrived. We moved, we phoned USCIS and let them know our new address, we mailed in the address change form. They resent the work permit, then we received notification that the work permit was sent back to USCIS because it had been sent to our old address. We called back and were informed that we have to change our address for every case we have at USCIS (he's also adjusting status), so we changed it for the work permit then, and asked if they'd resend it. They put in the request to resend it (3rd request). My husband's work permit had expired before the third request, but we had to wait 30 days before we could submit another request. Now his permit has been expired for two months and his driver's license has expired, which he can't renew until he has the work permit. We called today to see if they could fax something that he could take to the DL office. They said they couldn't fax anything. He tried taking the documentation sent out by USCIS stating he had been approved for his EAD renewal, but the DL office said they need the card. Is there ANYTHING we can do??? My husband's job depends on him having a driver's license. He's a mechanic and has to take cars on test drives, which means he must have a valid driver's license. PLEASE HELP, if you have any information that would be useful. We live in Georgia, if that has any bearing on the matter.

You applied for AOS in september 2006! and have not had your interview yet? If I were you I would forget calling the 1-800 they can not help you. Make an infopass appointment at your local office and find out what is going on with your AOPS and request the EAD is mailed to your correct address.

If you get no info from your local office you should be contacting your Congressman to get them to find out why you are having to wait over 2 years for your Greencard.

Oh and make sure you put your name on your mailbox.

We've already gone through everything. They're working on it. He just went in to be fingerprinted in October. They can't even give us an explaination as to why our application has taken so long. Meanwhile, he still doesn't have his work permit.
