Hi everybody,

I'm also back!

Happy new year to all of you. May 2009 bring only good news, we deserve it!

Change of plans in our case. As we set our wedding for the beginning of July in Romania (our home country) but we won't have time to get the visa, go to the States, get married and then have the AP in time, we decided to have the church ceremenoy and the party in Romania first and afterwards we go "home" together to the States and get married. This means we'll stay separated until July :crying: but otherwise I risk not to be able to go to the wedding in July. Only if we get the visa by the end of February (meanning having the NOA2 during this week - good joke  ) I'll go first to the States before our wedding.

It was a hard decision to take but what else can we do...Franckly when I arrived home in Belgium yesterday, without him, knowing we won't be able to see each other for another half a year, I got a little depressed....

Hey guys,

I came across your thread and I read it start to finish! I'm not yet a part of this group (but who knows, judging from the rest of you, anyone can get thrown into this category). I know that it isn't worth much, but I'd just like to say my thoughts are with you, and you have the right to whine and complain as much as you want! It's just amazing that the process can drag so much...especially when it's people's lives and futures that hang in the balance. Good luck to all of you!

I am sorry to see you have been waiting so long! YUCK! And I can't believe it took over 2 months just for you to get the NOA1 !!!! This is horrible! I can't understand how some people fly through with no problems and others (us) have to wait so long with no explanation.

Oh people, I am sorry to hear that a lot of you are in AP. They tell us we are not so far but honestly I start not believing that anymore as it just takes really looooong for NOA 2 to come.

Yesterday someone entered their approval with the same NOA 1 date as mine so I am really hoping again that this will be us until the end of this month. But who knows!

Stay strong, you guys! We should definitely try and do something after we are all over there. I am really wondering if no Tv channel might be interested in these stories, esp. Estadia's for example...

[Rant]

Just to follow up on my own post. I called my Congressional representative today basically just to beg them help us, and they simply told me there is nothing they can do besides make status inquiries and share the response they receive from USCIS with their constituents. Now, I am not necessarily blaming my Congress, eh, person's office, because I believe them. But then what is the point of a Congressional Inquiry? I can make an inquiry on my own without the assistance of a Congressperson.

And if a U.S. Senator can't help their constituent, who can? How much higher can you go? Should I ask the President?

I know, I know, preaching to the choir.

A bit of good news for everyone out there that gets the security check pending routine... next month it wont be a good excuse!

USCIS and the FBI announced a joint plan to eliminate the backlog of name checks pending with the FBI and established a series of milestones prioritizing work based on the age of the pending name check.   The FBI has already eliminated all name check cases pending more than four years.

By increasing staff, expanding resources, and applying new business processes, the goal is to complete 98 percent of all name checks within 30 days. USCIS and the FBI intend to resolve the remaining two percent, which represent the most difficult name checks and require additional time to complete, within 90 days or less.   The goal is to achieve and sustain these processing times by June 2009.

The joint plan will focus on resolving the oldest pending FBI name checks first. The target milestones for processing name checks are:

 Completion Goal

 Category

May 2008 -  Process all name checks pending more than three years

July 2008 -  Process all name checks pending more than two years

Nov 2008 -  Process all name checks pending more than one year

Feb 2009 - Process all name checks pending more than 180 days

June 2009 - Process 98 percent of all name checks within 30 days and process the remaining two percent within 90 days

I have to admit that I was unaware of the option to contact the CIS Ombudsman. Has anyone else who is outside the processing timeframe tried this?

I just hope USCIS and the FBI read their own improvement updates...

PGP: it is true that noone can really exercise power on USCIS. The only guys that can do something are those that give money to USCIS to function! One big part of this is US! But as we are so disorganized and widespread this seems hard to do and by now we just fail to bundle our voices.

We as beneficiaries do not have any rights and therefore they don't care. When my fiancé asked something similar USCIS basically just told him "it's for national security". Yeah....I AM a big thread to national security... Stupid! Anyone can go enter the US illegally, get married and live happily ever after but the ones who try the legal way get punished. What a bullsh*t.
