exactly that... to have the petition adjudicated at the USCIS can take up to 6 mos.

It means the oldest cases being processed were filed 6 months ago.

CSC used to simply show a date there of 6 months prior to the current date, and update it every month, but as simplified it to just show 6 months.

Note: what it means is wait until it has been 6 months since filing the I-129F before calling to ask about NOA2.
