They've had some famous Right Leaning guests on their program, William Krystal, Paul Gigot, David Gergen, Ross Perot...to name a few. I always thought Jim Lehrer was well respected among both left and right leaning intellectuals.

Newshour is pretty good - you get a lot of stories that simply aren't covered by the corporate networks. I listen to it pretty regularly on the bus to and from work.

BTW - I was watching Fox News last night and they had a weird segment on the Greta Van Susteran show (O'Reilly also had a segment where he slammed a trio of NYT reporters) where she hammered CNN for a televised interview with Sarah Palin where the interviewer referenced an out of context quote.

The complaint may have been legitimate but I've never ever seen one news organization publicly castigating another and airing the grievance as part of the news - but it does jump out at me how heavily invested these networks are in pandering to partisan demographics.

That is the general consensus as well as what they're teaching on college campuses in regards to News Hour.

That's the big debate as of late among the Media.

There was Media Watch in 1998 with regular coverage of information industries. The correspondent was Terrence Smith. They had 2.7 million viewers nightly, and 8 million unduplicated viewers per week. They Surveyed American's most credible news programs.
