Lot of variables. Where do u live in canada?? How soon the consulate mails it out. Sometimes they mail it out right away, other times, it takes a few days for them to just get it into the mail!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Danielle had her interview this past Friday (10/17) and the officer said it will be mailed out Monday. Assuming thats the case,

she should be getting it today or tomorrow by the latest. Assuming Canadapost is pretty reliable like couriers here, 2-day delivery

generally means its there. Even if its late on the 2nd day, I've always had 2-day service be on time. She gets it today or tomorrow,

I go up Saturday, and we're all back in FL by next Tuesday :)

Good luck, you'll do just fine.

Thanks for the info and the wishes of luck. I really hope I get it this time. I had gotten all the way to the interview last time and it was in Korea. They felt that my criminal background check wasn't good enough b/c they had the right to request a more thorough one with fingerprints being an embassy abroad. The one I gave them had allowed me to teach children in the Korean public school for three years, but not good enough for them to say that I can get a visa. So, time ran out and I had to transfer the case to my homeland of Canada. In effect though, nothing transferred, as I had to fill out all papers again and pay ALL of the fees again. No refunds from Korea.

I really hope that this time it works, otherwise I am thinking it just isn't meant to be.

^^ I had a friend who had the same thing happen with Korea! Only she moved back halfway through the process and had to restart too! Good Luck!

Well here's to hoping it arrives.

Question though...if you pay for a service that says 2 days, but arrives later than that, shouldn't you be entitled to a refund or discount? I just think that if businesses

could promise one thing and deliver another, less suitable service or product, wouldn't that be grounds for complaints?

Canada Post will refund you if you can prove it was late. They've refunded me the shipping before when I've sent XpressPost. It does take about 3 months for them to "investigate" though and it still arrives late, they don't really care about that part.

Don't know about the refund part but just so you know, I'm still waiting for mine as well. I keep checking the tracking number on the Canada Post website and it doesn't show up as being mailed. I checked the Consulate website and they say it can take from three to five business days to mail the visa :(

Well if thats the case, then we're screwed...we have a flight on Tuesday the 28th. In a way, I did feel booking a flight so soon after the interview

was being quick, but I assumed that it would arrive by that time. I'm hoping if the worst case scenario is that we can't fly, that Delta will work with

us on our flight arrangements.

I shouldn't think like that though, I should be thinking happy thoughts :D
