They can still export their women.

Why the negative comment about Filipino women?

Well Colombia also exports drugs. The Philippines doesn't have anything else to export.

In case you don't know, we also export a lot of pineapples and bananas. The Philippines is not called a banana republic for nothing.

We also export our doctors, nurses, physical therapists, computer programmers. Our brains are being drained dry by First World countries because your citizens are too lazy to go to school to get an education.

By the way, USA, UK, Europe thank you for exporting your financial crisis to the Philippines. Much appreciated.

And hey First World, welcome to the Third World. We're happy to see you here.

And there I was thinking that a Banana republic was a pejorative term for a small country

that is politically unstable, dependent on limited agriculture (bananas) and ruled by a

small, self-elected, wealthy and corrupt clique.

I think you got that backwards. Your doctors, nurses, physical therapists and computer programmers

are leaving the Philippines in droves because they can make more money here.

You're welcome.

Dream on, Pinya.

Join the club. It's a world wide phenomenon.

Well Colombia also exports drugs. The Philippines doesn't have anything else to export.

Well... I wasn't talking about exporting anything. I was referring to the title of the thread:

The burden of the US economic crisis on Filipinos, US financial woes become personal to Filipinos

Again, it's a world wide phenomenon, most countries have been or will be affected by this, not just the Phillippines.

Boy, oh boy.

For you to get the joke, I will re-write it for you:

"The Philippines is not called a banana republic for nothing" (pun intended)"

At any rate, the sentence above is true, literally and figuratively. The Philippines is indeed politically unstable and ruled by the corrupt elite and yes, we do plant bananas, and lots of bananas and pinyas, too.

I think you got that backwards. Your doctors, nurses, physical therapists and computer programmers

are leaving the Philippines in droves because they can make more money here.

No, you're the one who got it wrong. I was responding to your comment that "aside from women the Philippines doesn't have anything else to export". I just pointed out that we export professionals too. Your comment about Filipino women offended me.

And what is wrong about making one's life better? Wouldn't you want to move if you were offered a better-paying job? It's human nature.

Dream on, Pinya.

Yup, I will continue to dream on while you are just waking up to a financial nightmare.

In America, "women" and "professionals" are not mutually exclusive groups. Are you saying they are in the Philippines?
