Didn't Florida give us Bush? Isn't one gift in a decade sufficient from this state? Shouldn't we reciprocate and give Florida a gift as well? One thing I have in mind is one of our Wisconsin winters for the next four years. Feel those people have been out in the sun too long.

Hey man, I didn't move down here to have fcuking cold and ugly winters.

Make a deal with you, you take Bush back, and we will keep our cold winters. Did you know since Bush became president our state college tuition increased by $6,000 per year, every which way you turn, we are getting it.

In my defense, I wasn't in Florida when Bush was elected. Nor did I get to vote in 2000. Voted in 2004 - not for him but in TN so my vote didn't do a lot of good. It's a damn mess the Bushies have gotten us into.

Contrary to media lies, McCain/Palin haven't given up on Colorado either. I attended a Palin rally in the Springs this week, then voted early. I'm not saying how many times  Colorado is still in play, polls are narrowing, and pollsters have to get real now to be taken seriously; this is their livelihood.

I am in Florida when Bush's brother was our governor, of course that had NOTHING TO DO WITH his winning the election. Never voted on the republican ticket, Oh and McCain, hummmm dreamy baby, soooooooooooo sexy, with his side kick what is her name, oh yea Palin.

It's not the floridians that you need to be mad at, it's the people who stopped their votes counting. There has been, and continues to be voter suppression going on in Florida. It may be a close state, but I believe that if everyone that actually cast a ballot in FL in 2000 was counted the state would have gone the other way. I think that this time around they are using supression methods that prevent people casting the ballots in the first place. I know personally of a few cases of this. People who are wrongfully purged, or in the case of one person I know their registration was found to be 'incomplete' even thought they filled it out fully. Of course they were only notified after it was too late, even though they registered in good time.

Anyway, Obama can win without FL, OH or even CO for that matter.

I think that at this stage we can say that with the exception of some massive voter suppression or international incident the following states will go blue:

WA, OR, CA, NM, MN, IA, WI, IL, MI, ME, NH, VT, NY, NJ, PA, MA, RI, CT, DE, MD, DC.

That makes 264 electoral college votes. Only needing 6 more, Obama could win by carrying only one of the following:

VA, IN, OH, FL, NC, MO or CO. And if you consider that MO almost always votes for the winner...

Voter suppression is the intent in the liberal media's constantly telling us that McCain doesn't stand a chance coz Obama has the election in the bag. What they're too stupid to realize is that it can serve to suppress voter turn out on both sides.

why would the media say McCain is losing in an attempt to keep McCain supporters home ?

(there again ... Obama supporters may also stay home because they feel the election is in the bag)

That is NOT what I mean by voter suppression. I don't mean people simply staying home and not voting. I'm talking about the fact that there is a widespread push to prevent people (most commonly in poorer neighbourhoods) from sucessfully registering, or casting a ballot. This includes purging people from registers that simply have a similar name as a felon. Or only offering them a provisional ballot instead of a normal ballot. One third of provisional votes were not counted in the last general election. It includes voter intimidation at the polling station. People being challenged and wrongfully denied their right to vote. Black people are 9 times more likely to have their votes, that they have managed to cast, tossed and not counted. Think about it.

What you meant doesn't negate what I meant. What I spoke is a form of voter suppression too. I have thought about it, and frankly, I'm tired of that old saw about how the poor and Blacks are such election victims. That's been a popular complaint from the peddlers of misery, but I don't buy it as systematic. Not all minorities are always in need of saving, but to listen to them, you'd think they are. It's insulting.

I know ppl in VA (lived there for lots of years) ... who chose at the last minute not vote in elections because they heard their candidate would win/lose ... because the media said this was happening.

the media ... what schmucks !!

the ppl who let the media influence their decision to not vote ... I felt sorry for them as they let a "freakin TV tube" sway and/or deter them from visiting the polling booth ... to cast a vote and get their sticker

It's a popular complaint because it is true. And the disenfranchisment of likely democratic voters is real. I'm not saying that (outside of the florida 2000 debacle) it is necessarily systematic. But it does happen, it is well documented. I don't think that these people need saving in general, I just think that it's incredibly important that those that wish to participate in elections, and are eligible to do so, get to excercise their right. Without intimidation.

"Disenfranchisment" is a word you only hear at election time. When you start hearing that word, you know what's coming!
